Overview
More
North Carolina's third oldest town, Beaufort lies on the coast bordering the southern tip of the Outer Banks. Originally a fishing village and port of safety dating from the late 1600's, Beaufort has been visited by patriots, privateers, merchants, and skilled craftsmen who built Bahamian and West Indian style homes and public buildings. On the Beaufort Historic Site, you can take advantage of the six professionally restored buildings, tour the Old Burying Grounds, and take a tour aboard a vintage English Double Decker Bus. Beaufort, NC truly is where history meets the sea.

This past Wednesday I did the Historic buildings tour. I was at first concerned when I was the only person who had purchased a ticket. I know some places will cancel tours if the group isn't large enough. Happily, that was not the case, so...More

We did the historic buildings tour and loved it! We are a bit of history buffs, but the apothecary and prison even captured our children's interest. The final stop, if you would like to go in, is an art gallery with pictures created by local...More

We stopped in at the museum and they weren't really doing a tour at the time but we got to walk around and look at the old buildings. A lady working there gave us a tour of the jail. It was a neat historic experience

Enjoy our visit to the Center and museum. Talked with the staff about the area. And talked about the houses. Free and nice.

It's free! The visitor center has some things to purchase should you want them. The staff inside is very helpful!
