We went to the another gem mining down the road which wasnt half as good as this one.. The guys were super knowledgeable here. They even showed us the type of gems we ended up finding. And they were five bucks cheaper. My son really enjoyed himself. Thanks for the time!

Helpful folks guide you every step of the way, and the little ones get to play and make a mess without too much fuss from you or your hosts. The gem store has both rough and finished stones for sale, as well as many settings like necklaces and bracelets at reasonable prices. Very little shade to be had in Summer,... More

We bought the $70 bucket and went through it with our 8 and 11 year old boys. Both boys left with a sack of crystals and a real excitement about sorting and classifying them. Emeralds, rubies, sapphires, amethyst, quartz, Jaspers, citrine, aventurine, garnet, etc. We had them cut a tiger eye for us which we are all excited about.

My 18 and 19 year old and I passed by here and decided to give it a try. We purchased the $120 pail for the three of us to prospect. There's a reason that the pail is called the Motherlode. We walked a away with 24lbs of very nice large stones. I've been to a couple of other gem mines... More

Enjoyed this as we had to figure out how to entertain an 18 & 16 year old. In addition, we had a 3 & 4 year old to entertain. It was a great experience and kept us all busy.

We stopped by here with our 5 and 8 year old as a last minute decision and so glad we did. The kiddos loved sifting for gems and came home with 5 large zip lock bags of semi precious/precious stones. The facility is open rain or shine and has indoor mine flumes that are easy to use. The guys running... More

We were very impressed with Foggy Mountain. We purchased the $70 bucket which was perfect for 4 children ages 10 to 15. After they finished sifting, Daniel the manager sorted the gems. He was very helpful as he identified the gems, explained their worth, and explained where the different gems could be found. He was very informative and answered all... More

This is such a fun activity for any age. Buckets come $30 or $70, there are more expensive options. Always walk away with a quart bag filled with beautiful gems. The staff are very friendly and after go through what you collected and explain each stone type. They can also cut the stones for you and make some into jewelry... More

We had been to other gem mines, but this one was the best so far. Staff were very informed and helpful. Had good selections of gems in the buckets and easy charts around to compare to. After we had mined our stones, they walked us through what we had mined and even have cutting services that you could use then... More
