I would agree with Barry above.. I will add this, since it is an objective question.. We only run the Nantahala River, and all Outfitters run the same part of the river. It is an Adventure trip, so, there are always some uncertainties/dangers with a/the trip. We have Customers of all ages. My mother (I am 52), is one of the first who is ready to get on the river.. There are real dangers on the river, but, these "Out of the Boat Experience dangers" are easily avoidable, if you end up in the river. Too Dangerous,, No. Risk, Yes. Actually, using statistics, the most dangerous thing you will do the day of your trip is your drive here and your drive home. Is it dangerous to drive? Yes/No, is there a Risk,, Yes.. Flight insurance is cheap.. I wish my insurance rates reflected the history of the risk here, and/or, the risk on the River.. It should be cheaper than flight insurance before 9/11.. I hope that helps. I'm sure you will be fine, but, I could not say that statistics are based on odds, but, if I were betting the odds, I would not have a problem dropping a paycheck against you having any problems. Although rare, the most common injury would be a bump, bruise, sunburn, scrap or scratch, and even more rare on a guided trip. Self guided trips,,, it really depends on who is steering the boat.. We run about 15,000 people a year down the river, and, I have gone several years without filing an accident report.. But, I surely have to look over the form each time to make sure I am filling it out correctly.. Accidents do happen, so, I can't say they won't.. I hope you understand my reluctance to say not.. It would just happen to be a cool case of Karma if I did.. Ha..
