The best part about reaching the top was the informational boards that explained what you were able to see in every direction. I... More

Worth the drive up to the top. Great views on the way up, and spectacular views from the peak! The scent of the evergreen trees was lovely as well. Easy access for kids and older people too. The short hike to the top was easily managed by my 3, 5 and 8 year olds, as well as my 60 year... More

It was wet and misty and we loved the drive up to the ~6,000ft summit. Will be visiting it again in another season to see the different colours of nature.

Beautiful mountain in the fall. Would love to see it in the spring also. It is easy to find on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I proposed to her on the lookout and she said yes. It was cold day with the temp around 30 but worth it. Just beautiful!

So I have been climbing a lot of state high points with my kids. My goal is to go from the base to the top of each on foot. I have done GA, AL, FL, TN and SC. None of these are in the same Ball park as the Black Mountain Crest Trail. It was rated as the most rugged... More

Out for a Sunday drive to enjoy the fall colors when I reached the park. The weather was clear and warm so I made the turn onto the park. The drive in is on a narrow road so at some points along the way you and your passengers will be looking off the side of a mountain. At first you... More

Spent the day at Mount Mitchell leaf peeping. It was a beautiful warm October day. Loved the views from the peak. We stopped at the visitor center and ate lunch at the park restaurant. Highly recommend a visit!
