Excellent network of trails for walking and hiking. The Sugarloaf dune is the highest point - 55 feet above sea level. We found venus flytraps and ripe blueberries during our June hike

Yes there is parking as stated above, but there is no beach at the Carolina Beach State Park. There is handicapped parking in downtown Carolina Beach, but it is pay parking and is a short walk over to the beach

The towns make decisions about whether dogs are allowed on the beaches. Some do, but only during the "off season". Check the town websites. CB State Park does allow dogs, but with restrictions, so I would check with them as... More

It borders a river channel behind the park. Which is a nice walk. With a lot of sandy areas to hang out on. But it's about a 10 min car ride to the ocean beach.
