Out for an evening walk taking in the ocean waves from the pier. The wind was enchanting causing fairly good sized waves for the surfers below. Enjoyable time of watching them on their boards or just taking in the rushing waves.

The pier is a good place to fish during the evenings when the bigger fish often feed. Good baits are shrimp and cut squid. The sharks feed at night as well as the sting rays.

Old pier that has weathered many storms given its appearance. I felt safe enough on it. No benches. Take a chair if you want to sit. At $18 to fish (we had our own tackle) was pricey to me. No charge for observers.

Go down to Kure Beach Pier, about a few more miles down the beach and it is free to walk on. If you want to fish, that will cost you, but the free walk was nice.

We took the grandkids for a walk on the pier. It has easy parking and easy access. The grandkids really had fun walking on the pier and looking out at the ocean. It was not crowded at all.

I think this Pier is a bit of a hidden gem on the island. Less touristy than Kure Pier, it is less crowded and thus has a bit less wear and tear than it's sister jetty. Also, it seems to have undergone recent repairs, which...More
