We learned so much more by walking through the museum with a docent, who knew lots of background about each piece in the special traveling portrait exhibition from the National Gallery. The collection of antiquities and Asian is also worth taking a look at. Tip:...More

Special exhibit: Exceptional entries from the Smithsonian Institution portrait competition. It was remarkable. Wanted to just sit and absorb each portrait.

The museum has a good cross section of art, well displayed and in a nice space. Worth a visit if you're in town, but probably not worth a special trip if you're outside the Chapel Hill area.

Visited this museum for the first time. It’s small and doable. No admission fee. Currently, there is a portraiture exhibit provided by the Smithsonian. What an interesting, varied and exciting collection of works! Highly recommended and worth a visit.

The art collections are displayed well and the rooms flow easily from one to another. You can take your time walking around as the atmosphere is calm and you are not overwhelmed by crowds. This museum is definitely worth a visit.
