I have lived in Charlotte almost 30 years and yet had never toured this historic gem. When an opportunity with a friend presented itself, I jumped at it. Fascinating tour of the plantation home with guide Ann Williams. Lots of information about the house, its owners and the broader context of the city (then the village) and events at the... More

As a newcomer to Charlotte, this was my first visit to Rosedale. The experience was fantastic. My class of 2nd graders which can be excitable were very attentive as we learned about the herb garden and how it was used for medicinal purposes, school days, and clothing of the era.

The Rosedale Plantation is only 2 miles north of downtown charlotte and offers a view into a working farm of a city doctor from 1815 through the 1980's. The tour group was small, Our docents were well informed and the history is entertaining. To think a property could remain in one family for 165 years is a feat unto itself,... More

What a surprise to find this treasure in the middle of urban Charlotte NC. This large, circa 1815 plantation home has been restored meticulously to its 1830 with furnishings and décor true to the period. The knowledgeable docent will guide you thru life on this subsistence plantation and you will get to know the people who lived here and get... More

This afternoon, along with family, I had the pleasure of being toured about Rosedale by Cameron. The trip was delightful and informative. Cameron was knowledgable and helpful. This is a quiet gem that needs lots of promotion. Smell the 200 year old wood inside and the boxwoods outside. For history buffs, this is a must see in Charlotte, The gardens... More

I have visited colonial and historical homes in many states, but have never seen one with this design. Price of tour was under $10 and worth it. Little disappointed with the style of the guide, too "cutesy" and not presented as facts.

We never were to a plantation so we can not compare it to others. But it was nice, scenic, enjoyable, pretty and an ok hour.

We went on a rainy ish day, saw very few people (Less than 5 and one worked there so we wound up barefoot and meandering through). Area that is expanding just for kids includes pretty cave, pond and a crazy cool cage that spins you like mad.. Beautiful fountains everywhere, events, gift shop, beautiful building, very historic and they do... More
