The falls are definitely worth the stop! Easy climb up the stairs and a short walk to the falls. We also hiked to the very top of Mingo Falls where there is a much smaller waterfall. The hike to the top is a bit challenging at times and the trail is not well maintained. Mingo Falls is one of my... More

This place is a must see if you're in Cherokee! It's not far to drive either. When you get to the parking area you'll see steps going up into the forest. 162 steps in all. Not recommended for anyone with back trouble. If you can make the journey it's well worth it! After climbing the steps there is a short... More

Be prepared to hike the long climb up the stairs on the mountain side. It is well worth it! Beautiful falls!

Beautiful!! Worth the climb :) Didn't take very long, it was about 170 stair steps, not counting steps taken between ;)

We spent the day in Cherokee and heard about this falls. The ranger at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center gave us directions and it was a short drive over to the trail head. Its says its .4 miles in length. I hike regularly and found it to be a very short walk up a stair case when you reach the top... More

Mingo Falls is absolutely beautiful, definitely worth a stop if you're near Cherokee. The climb to get to the falls is short, but moderate in difficulty.

It is a very short walk to access Mingo which is a spectacular site. The trail consists of mainly stairs so take your time if needed. Mingo Falls is definitely bigger than any picture could portray. Peaceful and quiet as well

We went on a pretty rainy day and it was completely empty which was awesome. The falls are a quick walk/hike through pretty forest. There are built in stairs and handrails for the uphill portion so it makes it easy for anyone to participate. The falls have a great viewing platform and what looked like a hike that would lead... Be prepared to walk SLOWLY up the steep stairs to get to the falls. It doesn't take very long; however if you are out of shape you will need to stop every so often to catch your breath. Once you get there it is a beautiful view of the falls. Kids climbed up to the top to see and went... More

I have been going to mingo falls since the 70's and it is always a great view. My son the more adventurous one walked towards the falls and climbed many of the rocks. There are some excess logs that could be removed but definitely worth the visit.
