We went to these falls because they looked neat in the pictures, but we had no idea how truly incredible these falls were. The walk up the stairs isn't THAT bad, but there are lots and it's the only way to go. The falls are enormous!!! When you get to them, your jaw will drop and you were stare in... More

Before we went to Cherokee my wife looked up things to do and see on the internet. We wanted to visit places other than the local shops and cuisines. She found, by accident, a waterfall high in the mountains. Mingo Falls was the intriguing name that attracted her attention. To be truthful, finding the Falls was an adventure in itself.... More

Just seeing and hearing the water and watching the guides tell the history about the grist mill. Showing the corn and how it was made and then used for many purposes. We sure have come a long way since then but I believe the old days were the best. Just simple living and hard work!!

Mingo Falls is a really short hike to a very impressive water fall making it accessible for most people. There are quite a few steps but they help you navigate the mountainside easily and at your pace.

I've hiked the Smokies my whole life, but mostly on the Tennessee side. And though I had read that Mingo Falls was a "must see", we just recently got the chance to see it, while camping nearby. Mingo Falls is located in cherokee, just outside the national park boundary. The hike is relatively short(1/4 mile), but involves about 150 steps.... More

This is a great little side trip to spend 30 minutes to an hour. The falls are very pretty. The stairs can be a little rough on bad knees but if you take your time you'll be okay.

Visited this out of the way beauty on the recommendation of a shop owner in Cherokee. It's in a location you wouldn't expect and real close to downtown Cherokee. There are about 180 steep steps to climb to get to the falls but the trip is worth it. Don't miss it.

Wow, what an amazing view. Be prepared to walk 168... or 0.4 miles up stairs to get there. You can stop and rest along the way though and coming down the stairs is very easy. The falls are simply beautiful, and worth the hike.
