It could be a fantastic place to go out. Nice refurb with great space in the middle but we visited it in the evening and it was completely empty. No bars open, no restaurants. It has potential but needs to more mixed use. Too many offices around and not enough social spaces.

Just kinda...there. Stopped on Saturday mid morning after visiting Duke. The Durham Bulls park is beautiful and this area COULD be vibrant and great, but it felt like walking around an abandoned shopping center. Maybe there is more that is typically open when there is not a pandemic, but I wouldn't waste time stopping here until whatever is actually here, is open.

Our daughter took my wife and I and her oldest son to her graduation from Duke Divinity School this past May. She showed us around Durham during the afternoon before her graduation ceremony that evening. She took us to the Tobacco Historic District to look around and shop. The area has been converted from tobacco warehouses into businesses and restaurants. The brick buildings are very beautiful. It was interesting to explore the location.

First time visiting Durham included a walk through this space. So interesting to see the blend of historic space and NC history blended with modern businesses. We just walked through but there's a theater and some other things to do in the space.

A nice historic site for dining and a stroll. Nothing much else of particular interest to see, other than the Lucky Strike tower. We found parking on the street ($3 for 2 hours). I had hoped there would be some retail stores, but we didn't find much. The buildings were converted to restaurants or residences.

Stayed close by so we could enjoy a baseball game. Nice place to walk. Really only restaurants in this area. Water plant is displayed very well. Lots of areas to sit and people watch.

Just so pretty. We do a quick stop every time we are in town. Love the YMCA Cage and the beautiful water features down the middle. Really a peaceful, lovely example of repurposing a part of history. Especially pretty at night.

This location is very nicely re-done for tourists and special events. we only went to see the location and not for event. But the way they have re-done the buildings for office spaces, businesses and restaurants is great. Also the water way created is amazing.

Really interesting repurposing of the tobacco factories. Great outdoor nooks and crannies full of waterfalls and features. Well done use of the old industrial brick and metal work. Aesthetically pleasing place to have dinner, relax, and walk around. Highly recommend this.

Beautifully renovated Tobacco Factory and grounds. Water features, grassy area for lounging and plenty of restaurants, libations and shops. Next door to Durham Bulls Ballfield. Enjoy!

You mentioned "more authentic places in Durham" in your review. Could you tell me what you would suggest. I will be in Durham in June.

Sorry for the late reply. When I stated about some authentic places in Durham, I meant eateries. My experiences are in the areas of foods. For Chinese I highly recommend Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant at 3003 Guess Rd. in Durham, Dim Sum House at 100 Jerusalem Dr. in Morrisville, and Taipei 101 at 121 E. Chathem St. in Cary; they have the famous fried stinky tofu which comes closest to what I had when I was in Hong Kong. You can't even get this dish in NYC. For Indian food, I highly recommend India Gate at 2223 NC-54 in Durham, Thali Indian Restaurant at 8073, 5311 S. Miami Blvd, Durham, and Basera Biryani & Grill Indian Cuisine at 4818 NC-55, Durham, and Dharani South Indian Cuisine at 1000 Lower Shiloh Way, Morrisville. For African food, I highly recommend The Palace International at 1104 Broad St, Durham (they have a great variety of African drinks) and Awaze Ethiopian Cuisine at 904 NE Maynard Rd, Cary. For Middle Eastern food, I recommend International Delights at 740 9th St. Durham and Neomonde Mediterranean (Lebanese) Raleigh at 3817 Beryl Rd, in Raleigh. I hope this helps.

We tried to go last night for my daughter's birthday and there was no water? Is there some reason for that?
Written January 28, 2018
Sorry, can’t answer that. Maybe an issue with the utility company? Burst water main or something?
Written January 29, 2018
Yes, as long as they're leashed, dogs may walk in the general area; however of course not in restaurants, shops, or in the stadium. Bring 'pick-up' bags!

There are quite a few! You can find them all on the American Tobacco Campus website if you google it.
I recommend Basan for sushi, Cuban Revolution for sandwiches and drinks, and Only Burger for one of the best burgers around!
