The Museum of the Albemarle promotes the understanding of history and material culture primarily of the Albemarle Region in which it is located and secondarily for the state of North Carolina for the educational benefit of all people. Great museum and they do a good job of explaining their history from the early settlers. They even have a web based system that lets you use your phone to hear the tour. We we surprised to find out the museum is free.

Museum is developing good new programs such as the one on Charles Tiffany & Tiffany products. The setting and Architecture of the building and site are wonderful.

Wonderful museum! Had a great time with my 10 year old. We learned alot about the coastal water area and Elizabeth City! I must for history buffs!

A great treasure for Elizabeth City. Exhibits change so you can always see something new. Gift shop is great for local treasures.

Unpretentious small museum. Exhibitions give insight into a broad region of northern coastal NC. Very helpful staff.

Do a search here for Byron's hot dogs. (May be missed spelled ) It is close by. Look for a review here on TripAdvisor. We get a dog or two and go to the waterfront park and have them for lunch. The also do a local... More

Not really, regional . However if you are in the area its well worth a stop. Go to the web site to see current exhibit. You may want to visit the cemetery next door.
