The tower, which was just reconstructed due to forest fires in the area is beautiful. The views from up there are quite literally, breathtakingly beautiful.

After driving on a curvy road for 8 miles, we took a gravel road for another 4.5 miles. The gravel road was easily driven on in our Camaro but don't expect to drive fast. Once you arrive at the top, we found burnt trees but...More

Winding roads and hills. A little narrow in some spots but not scary. Parking and a restroom up top. Short walk to the tower. Great views all around. I found it exciting to see the Appalachian Trail which cuts across the top right past the...More

The gravel rd that you can take to the parking area is in good shape most of the time. From the parking lot there is a short walk on a paved trail to the lookout tower. The fires in 2016 burned the roof off the...More

when we visited there was a roof on the upper portion. Unfortunately forest fires in fall, burnt this down. Currently under construction for replacement roof. The fall colors are spectacular from this vantage point.

As you ascent the well maintained, gravel road to the top of Wayah Bald, be sure to stop and see the picture boards and read about the people who, before automobiles, made the trek in mule drawn carriages to hold church services there at sunrise....More

We made the drive up to Wayah - honestly I did not find the road as challenging as some have mentioned. You do quite a bit of gravel and there are a few rough and harrowing spots but passable in all cars I would think....More

Breathtaking views!! Even the drive is spectacular!! The drive is a windy, narrow, gravel road. Just take your time and enjoy the trip to the top...it is worth the drive!! Area is well maintained!! They even have restrooms at the top!!

I don't know what you have being reading but when I was there the entire trip was on a gravel road did not encounter mud at all , even if it rains I don't see a problem going there on a motorbike . That is my opinion

No. We are locals and drove 30 minutes on Sunday to find the road closed, on a beautiful, 60° sunny day. Very disappointing.

Yes, it is open. They are rebuilding the tower, so you might not be able to go up in that. But the trails and road are open.
