The hike up the trail is steep, but peaceful and pretty. Once at the top it was a little disappointing. There are giant cell towers up there that look awful, not to mention you are getting exposed to that at close range. There is also cow poop all over! We took the dirt road down and seen more cows in the woods.

Short but steep hike to our version of the Sound of Music!

This hike has not been as well known and been a bit of a privately maintained trail. It’s a quick steep climb to an opened area that feels like the sound of music!

The trail is considered moderate, but was doable even in sandals. (Flip flops, maybe not.) beautiful views, flourishing plants, well maintained trail.
We went early on a cool and cloudy day. No bugs, few people. A peaceful hike that was worth it!

Easy hike for families or inexperienced hikers. Fire road is easiest way up and down. Hiking trail is more strenuous. Excellent views at the top. Resist petting the cows.

Great place to hike or relax with the family. The hike is relatively easy so it was not bad for the kids. We really enjoyed it.

Great hike for all ages. Approximately 1 mile each way with 571 feet elevation gain. Just take your time, rest and catch your breath on the way up. It is very relaxing on the way down. A broad meadow at the top with rock outcropping stone to eat on and rest on while you watch the cattle graze. Not much traffic on the road but lots of switch backs. Looks like parking for about 30 cars close to entrance along the road.

This is a fun and easily accessible peak not too far from Asheville. This is a pretty mild hike with only about a mile up and a mile down. You start pretty high up, so there's not a ton of elevation gain. The peak is a grassy treeless peak that you can see miles in both directions. The unique aspect of this peak are the dozens of cows at the top. They are just roaming around eating grass. Some of them don't take too kindly to people that walk close to them so just mind your space. Also, watch your step. Otherwise, I will take a peak with cows over one without cows any day.

We were told about the Bearwallow Mountain trail by one of the guides at Chimney Rock. He promised us a sunset we would not forget and the view certainly delivered! It was stunning. The husband and I sat in awe of the beautiful splendor of the place. Mountains and clouds as far as the eye can see. The trail was pretty easy to climb and didn't take long and for those unable to climb, the top can be easily reached via the access road. This is, by far, the best thing we have seen in our 3 trips to the area!
