This old fashioned beach town has little to offer in the way of fine dining or clubs but it's not crowded nor noisy. With many canal as well as ocean front and ICW homes for rent, a family oriented vacation can be a pleasure. Ice cream stores, golf and water slides, public playground, sidewalks for bicycling from one end of... More

Nice clean, safe family beach. Parking is a little hard to find and there are no foot washes but other than that perfect beach. There are a couple beach restaurants which makes it handy. Usually a good beach to find shells.

We love Holden beach because it is so beautiful and tranquil. Very clean and great for shell collecting (very early morning). It was a little chilly during our most recent visit but we were dressed accordingly and enjoyed the beach almost to ourselves (only one other couple out early in the morning). Hope to return soon.

This is a great family beach. Located halfway between Wilmington,NC and Myrtle Beach,SC. About 35 miles each way. Very clean beach with great white sand. Everything you need is there without the hustle and bustle of the larger beaches?

Love Holden Beach, They are rejuvenating the beach right now (2/2017). The beach is so much bigger than before and after the hurricane. Lots of shells. Usually see dolphins in water. Great place to visit and stay.

Holden Beach is "The Family Beach" - Quiet - But really, not much to do. So if you need to be amused, stay away. If you want a beautiful quiet relaxing time, come and enjoy.

We had the honor of staying at a beach front home for 4 months last winter ( November through February). It was truly a wonderful experience! We often had the beach to ourselves or a few other people! On holidays-- when warm enough, more showed up! The beach is clean and beautiful! Hurricane Matthew did some damage and changed the... I have been visiting Holden Beach for family reunion/vacation trips for many years now - unlike the hyper-developed Myrtle Beach about an hour away in South Carolina, Holden Beach has a small town vibe, clean beaches, and much wildlife (Holden Beach is also a sanctuary and safe environment for nesting sea turtles and hatchlings) that you can see in the... We loved not having all of the hotel/motel scenery, and the beautiful, relaxed atmosphere. The Turtle Watch staff were wonderful as they were at the nests each evening near our rental. Grocery close enough to be convenient, although I recommend not shopping Saturday at Food Lion when everyone just arriving is. Best beach for shells we've visited.
