Amazing beach, white and sandy with fine grains. Stretching as far as you can see. Accomodation is excellent and can rent places right by the sea. The township has a few bars and restaurants, even a small local store. When I was there it was...More

Wonderful area for relaxing, small island with quiet family beach. Several restaurants but no high rises and no attractions. Just a nice relaxing beach!

What a great beach if you want to avoid the crowds and just unwind. Even during a busy Labor Day weekend the beach felt uncrowded but this is mainly because there isn’t a lot of parking so most people live there or rent a house...More

It all looked good if you rent or own a house at the beach but, did not seem very good for just a day visit.

Been going since the early '50's. Still retains nice family beach character. The beach has expanded in recent years. Tragically, the top 1% has bought and closed off areas where we used to walk on nature trails and play on the dunes.

So, if all you want is the ocean and your family, this is your beach. Very few food options. The beach is wide with lots of shells. No lifeguards that we saw in late July. We are trying every NC beach we can. We prefer...More

I don't live at Holden but haven't you gotten the e-mails from Alan Holden. There is a lot of rain damage, no one can go in, but you will get an e-mail from him when you can go in. The power is back on and soon pumping... More

I agree with the previous answer, Holden Beach is not usually crowded anytime of the year. It's not built up like other beaches are.

Holden is pretty similar to Ocean Isle Beach. I never wear sand shoes, but my wife always does. If you think you need them at OIB you should plan on needing them at Holden, too.
