Incredible views. The hike up not so enjoyable. Once you arrive at the top of the Max Patch you will see some of the most incredible views overlooking the Great Smoky Mountains.

This has always been my favorite place on the AT. Please don’t visit because I don’t want it to get crowded. Great for kite flying, hiking, photo opportunities, introducing youngsters to nature, etc.

Absolutely beautiful. Worth going in all kinds of weather except lightning. Dirt and gravel roads to get there are part of the adventure. The parking area is small so try avoiding weekends unless you like a crowd. It can be windy and a lot colder...More

Geological marker practically straight up 4000 ft. A great hike but windy and very cold. Clear enough to see TN, NC, SC, and VA mountains. Great hike for the whole family.

Quick hike up to the top of Max Patch to absolutely stunning views of the mountains. You can see for miles in all directions. It can be pretty windy and chillier at the top, so dress accordingly. Great place to bring your dog and have...More

Great place to hike. Can see for miles. Great view driving there. We took one road in and another out. Both road were rough. Great fall colors.

The road in is rough, but worth it. Lovely 360 degree view from the top of the patch. Wear something warm and comfy shoes and take a camera!

Awesome views driving up the mountain. My little 4 cylinder Civic had no issues getting up the gravel and dirt roads. Once we fought the altitude and got to the top, the views were stunning.

The road to Max Patch is gravel and dirt, but the trees along the road were fabulous with fall color. The drive and the hike up to the view were well worth it.
