Every summer we take my son to fish off the pier. He is 20 now and still likes to go fishing there with my husband. Lots of great memories have been made here. You always meet such nice people spending great family time here.

This area has wide beaches and beautiful views. Most of the homes are older and a bit more rustic in areas. But the beaches are amazing and the views spectacular!

Fishing is usually pretty good. Not the longest pier but it's good for the kids. Sometimes the girl at the desk is NOT the friendliest! They have games and pool tables for the teens.

It was raining when we went. We just looked around. The folks that ran the fishing shop and the restaurant were really friendly and polite, and gave us lots of information.

Avalon Pier is good local attraction. It is one of the older piers in the Outer Banks. Good central location in Kill Devil Hills. While we visit it frequently we never park there, much too expensive. Off season no charge if the gates are open.
