I stayed at the military reservation built by Seymour Johnson AFB. The camp site was very nice and clean. There were several amenities such as a bath house, grills, picnic tables, and rental houses for kayaks, bicycles, and canoes. We had a great time. The only thing is would change is to allow carry concealed permit holders permission to have... More

Been going here for 8 years and it never disappoints. Beautiful ride and open 24 hours a day from late Sep to March. Wonderful beach to ride and explore. Not much shell action this week, however.

My boys Cub Scout Den and Boy Scout Pack took a trip to the Wilmington, NC area for a scouting event. We'd never been here before, and thoroughly enjoyed our whole trip around this park. There's the impressive earthen fort, the small but interesting aquarium, and the very nice beach. What's more, all of staff made sure our outing was... More

This is a very nice area to walk along the beach and have a picnic. It is in close proximity to the Fort Fisher historical area and museum and the Fort Fisher Aquarium. It makes a great day or two trip.

We've been coming and staying at Ft Fisher recreational facility for 10 years and we love it. The last time we were there we stayed in one of their new one bedroom apartments. It was wonderful. Right across the road from the beach. The facility offers many recreational things to do. A small museum (limited opening times), a pool, a... More

There has been a great deal of history at Fort Fisher but it was not that well presented. Worth stopping by and having a look but you do not need to spend a lot of time. The beach was more interesting.

We drove out for the kite festival and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon on the beach. The wind was up, so lots of kites, people and dogs to watch. Parking was easy in the huge lots. There are restrooms in the buildings adjacent to the parking lot.

There was a kite festival there on the beach, and it was a good place to spend a couple of hours. First of all, they had two food trucks, so if you got thirsty or hungry, it was right there. We did eat at one of the trucks and had a Chicken Wrap with of course, chicken, lettuce, olives, mayo... More

There is something for everyone. The museum has lots of great artifacts to view from the occupation of the fort. Many do no know bit this was an active battle field during the war and the new led light display actually walks you through the battle itself. It was wonderful watching and learning about this day. From there we visited... More
