We recently drove most of the Blue Ridge Parkway and there are so many great little hikes. Waterrock Knob is no exception. It's a half mile to the top with spectacular views. Skip the observation deck at .2 miles and go to the top. The...More

The hike is rated as strenous; however, slow and easy with deliberate steps makes it one you can accomplish. It is steep with beautiful views. The trail is partially paved and well-placed stones form steps later on the trail.

On our way north on highway 23/74, we decided to take a detour on this section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We started at the intersection of Highway 23/74 and we stopped at many overlooks on the way to Waterrock Knob. After the hike, we...More

The Park Rangers acted like they were throwing their own little party. Never met such kind, gracious rangers. This welcome center is beautiful, clean and truely a "Welcome" center.

This is a climb straight up the side of a mountain. There are sets of rock stairs mixed with roots and rocks to help with footing, but it is a very steep climb. The view from the summit is well worth the hike up. Three...More

The main level of the parking lot is very accessible, as are the bathrooms and welcome center. The trail is a moderate hike, but the view just from the parking lot is worth a stop.
