a trip to the museum

So much to see. For the "Andy Griffith Show" fan, this place is a must see. Be sure to get a picture in Barney's side car.

I looked forward to visiting the museum and I wasn't disappointed! Growing up, I hit the tail end of the Andy Griffith show, and then its 'sequel', Mayberry RFD. I watched the reruns of the early shows as I got older and consider The Andy Griffith show one of the greatest memories of my life and i still watch the... More

Great museum featuring tons of artifacts from all the shows. Fun walk down memory lane. Enjoyed seeing original items (Matlock suit, Barney's etc:).

This place is small, but loaded with memorabilia from Mr. Griffith's career. It's big enough to be enjoyable but too small to be boring. The admission also include the "museum" for the Siamese twins Chang and Eng Bunker. And a couple of other things in the area. By all means, give it a whirl.

We headed for the Andy Griffith Museum even though we had been told that it was essentially a collection of artifacts from the filming location of the shows in California ( now long bulldozed), and of no real interest to us. The sculpture of Andy and Opie off to 1). spend some quality time together and 2). maybe catch a... More

My family loved the Andy Griffith show. We have a child in college nearby and drove to Mt. Airy to look around. The Museum was very crowded, but we went in anyway. We paid cash for our tickets. Please note there is a surcharge for using a credit card. The people working at the Museum are incredibly nice. We purchased... More

I was traveling to North Carolina and decided to stop on a Sunday and visit the Andy Griffith Museum. Sunday hours are later opens at 1300 but it was a beautiful day and I had time to take pictures!

There are lots of photos and clothing and props from The Andy Griffith show as well as posters, etc. from his movie roles. It's not spectacular, but if you were a fan of Mayberry and happen to be in the area, don't pass it by! Another part of the museum is dedicated to Cheng and Eng, the first recognized Siamese... Interesting collection of nostalgia. Small, cramped area, not overly wheelchair friendly. They charge you extra if you don't have cash. Come prepared.
