Designed to look like an old-fashioned candy store this delightful place offers a large variety of back-in-day and present day candies. Of course in keeping with the Andy Griffith Show vibe of the town, there are pictures of little Opie (Ron Howard) everywhere along with Opie's favorite things. Don't miss this!

At 5.95 a pound you can get your fill of candy and then some, just about all the candy you got as a kid are here, and most are in jars so you can mix and match to get a wide variety. If you love candy this is a must visit.

If you are over age 50, you know what I'm talking about. Anyone that has ever purchased "penny candy" will get a kick out of stopping here. Just about any candy you remember buying as a kid. Decor adds to the experience.

Love this little place. the owners are friendly and ALL the candy is yummy. Just be careful taking the kids in here as they will want everything they see. Just an overall great and fun place to visit.

You'll find candy in here that you've not thought about in years. It's clean, inviting and the service is always friendly. They also have ice cream.

My son got an icecream cone here, and it was great! We also saw lots of candy, and some cute gift type items. They had RC cola and moonpies packaged together and tied with ribbon, and the prices weren't too bad. We enjoyed stopping here!

This store offers a wide range of homemade candy offered in jars for $5.99/lb....ABSOLUTELY delicious! Other offerings include classic candies and sodas which are not available in many stores and ice cream. This is a highly recommended stop in downtown Mount Airy, NC!!!!

While visiting Mount Airy recently, I stopped in to check out Opie's Candy Store. I am a candy-holic, so I was in heaven here. It's a tiny little store, but it is jam packed with every kind of candy one can imagine. I bought some chocolate non-pareils and dark chocolate coconut candies, and they are so delicious! This store is... More

Several containers of old fashioned candy jars with red lids full of so many different types of candy. Just scoop out how much you want and weigh it. There is even a sugar-free section of candies. They also sell Mayfield ice cream as well. Lots of novelty candy items that you rarely see anymore as well as some of the... More
