The sand is really soft and the scenery is beautiful. Take off your shoes and enjoy! We ran around the place again and again with my son. It was great!

Such a beautiful place. Great exercise and fun. Can't wait to bring the kids! Would like to bring a blanket and sit on the dunes next time.

Let me start by saying that I am NOT a physically fir person. I took my time and many breaks while climbing to the top of the highest dune. I am so very glad I did! The views are simply amazing! It is a climb, a long walk in the sand. Just get there early enough to be able to... More

The park offers all kinds of adventures and fun on the dunes. Make sure you have water when you go out on the dunes when it's hot. Check out kitty hawk kites Web site to book hang gliding/paragliding. Lots of fun. By the way you can wear the kids out having them run up and down the dunes.

No trip to the Outer Banks of N. Carolina would be complete without a trip to Jockey's Ridge State Park. Our family likes to go at least one evening to watch the sunset over the sound. This is an experience not to be missed. Kids of all ages enjoy navigating the numerous sand dunes. If you are physically able, do... More

We had no idea that this type of environment naturally occurred in NC. It was a difficult walk out into and onto the dunes but the view and experience was very worth it!

The Visitor Center is interesting and there is a fairly easy walk on a boardwalk which will give you some nice views. However, if you really want to see the sand dunes and ocean, you need to hike across the beach and up the dunes, which is fairly difficult, but worth it if you can do it.

Having been turned away early from the Wright Brothers memorial because of the impending arrival of Hurricane Matthew, we were dubious about visiting this park for the same problem. The rangers here, however, seemed bemused when I asked if they too were closing up early, and said of course we could climb their dunes! Interesting board walk and scenery -... More
