Oak island beaches attract pleasant family vacationers, both days on the weekend we came to the beach were refreshing, no one was loud or boisterous. Our pup loved getting her toes in the sand for the first time, and we love that there's still free beach access!!

Clean beautiful free beaches . I love OKI because its so much more laid back than any where else (NC/SC) family friendly, pet friendly very chill community! Perfect for us! But if you wanted to do more than lounge, shop a Lil, and hang at the beach there are many places in short distance you can go!

We spent a week in March in Oak Island and loved it so much we looking to purchase a home there. The location is great, beaches beautiful, and the folks in town were friendly and not a place for bar hopping or clubing which makes it a nice relaxing retreat for those of us who are not into that type... go down to the point. take a chair and a cold drink. You can put a raft in at the waterway side and the current will ride you around to the ocean side. Natural water park. Tons of space to explore. low tide will allow you onto the islands that surround the point. Tide pools for little kids or dogs... More

Recently the dunes were built up to widen the beach. Our 3 year old granddaughter loved the tide pools.

Since I live on Oak Island, the beaches are not only my happy place, but a venue to enjoy my visitors. The beaches are never too crowded and if there are many guests there, they are quite friendly.

Oak island has beautiful beaches in the Spring and mostly well behaved people. There were a few restaurants open but I understand more in the summer. If you're a snob, this is not the beach for you...just casual and friendly but not anything fancy nearby. If you're looking for country clubs and nicer restaurants, try Bald Head! Or head further... The beaches here are spectacular. Make sure you know where you can park. There are a few areas that require stickers to park so make sure you park accordingly. The water was gorgeous.

My wife and I stopped by the Beaches after my 5K run. These beaches were very beautiful, lots of dunes. We didn't stay long but they were really nice and deserved to be reviewed.
