This trail is about three miles from town(across from the campground). It is a short hike in sand, on boardwalks with information signs along the trail. This is a great way to get away from the many people on Ocracoke(especially in the summer) and find...More

These trails are beautiful, and the little information signs along the way are a huge help. However, be sure to bring bug spray or the mosquitoes will eat you alive!

Can't climb it but it's a wonderful light house to visit. Beautiful grounds with a long boardwalk. The top of the lighthouse is visble from many areas around the harbor. Beautiful at night. Bring the bug spray if the wind is light.

This is another nice trail Ocracoke has to offer. An easy but beautiful walk - pet friendly. Wear bug spray - which is pretty much a given everywhere in Ocracoke.

this is a nice shady, pretty walk with some opportunities for bird watching in the marshes but don't expect it to take more than 30 minutes

Take your bug spray and hat, so you can really enjoy a slow walk. Some will want a long-sleeved shirt. You'll move from scrub by the road to pine, then marsh on path and Boardwalk. Listen to the hush under the thick long-needle pines, feel...More

If you have never walked through a very well maintained nature trail on a wind swept barrier island this is the one to try. This is NOT Staten Island or Martha's Vineyard. Everyone should see this!

I highly recommend walking the nature trails in this area. There's a lot of beautiful trees and plant life to see, and of course it's good exercise! Definitely something different to do if you need a "break" from the beach and hot sun.
