We went to Portsmouth Island twice this visit to Ocracoke. We love shelling and quiet beaches and so we usually come now just for those things since we have already done the abandoned village. Yes, there are bugs, mainly up above the high tide line....More

great staff.... captain was very informative, yes, the village was buggy but wear pants and bring spray and its fine.... the beach was awesome, quite a few shells

For just 2 we were told $30. per person plus tip. If more people go it's $20. per. You have to call for more information on operating hrs.
