Attended the ceremony at the British Ceremony on 5/11/18, and was very impressed with the ceremony and respect exhibited by those who presided and those who attended. Beautiful commemoration of those who sacrificed their lives in the furtherance of our freedom and safety.

This is a beautifully maintained historical plot. It is the smallest Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery in the world, with only 4 war dead. It is cared for by the citizens of Ocracoke, who, along with the US Coast Guard, put on a very well...More

Definitely a spot to check out while on the island. You can’t beat the cost...free. It provides an interesting account of those that are memorialized there.

The British Cemetery is very interesting. It’s worth stopping by and reading the history behind it. Also read the tombstones in the cemetery to the left. There’s one that said the lady lived to be 117 years old.

We enjoy history, so we always research places before visiting. Not too far of the beaten path and very interesting.
