We visited during the Fall festival.. Many vendors and food trucks were there... It was a fun trip! Loved the apple fritters!

Yes, this isn't the Louvre; it's a small town museum, but we loved it! My husband's ancestors are from this place and my granddaughter and I had a wonderful time there. Peggy Silvers isn't just a docent; she is a local historian, a genealogist and a book author. Our trip to Old Fort would NOT have been the same without... More

Host was a very pleasant lady. This Museum is small but has an interesting historical view of the area. Glass powerline Insulators, a still and black integration in the Asheville. Pleasant visit.

A small two story museum with friendly people. There are cabins etc to look into along with the regular museum type things.

i enjoyed the traveling 1916 Flood exhibit. I found the staff to be friendly and knowledgable. The museum is small but packed with a great collection. The two historic log cabin outside are alone worth a visit. I will return.

This museum is very well done. It's quite small, and the whole thing can be done in about 30 minutes. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed exhibits about desegregation in western Carolina, the spread of the availability of electricity in western Carolina, and the traditional medicinal uses of plants and herbs, among other things. There appeared to be... More

Wonderful museum with a thoughtful staff. The movie touches on over 200 years of history and the artifacts tie everything together. Two historic cabins show you how folks used to live in the area.

This had been on my list for a long time, and I am glad I finally stopped in. There are two temporary exhibits: one about the Spanish explorers who made it to the middle of Noth Carolina looking for a fast route to the Mexican silver mines. Archeologists are digging each summer to expand our knowledge of their presence. The... More
