The lake is beautiful, but the park staff are extremely rude and disrespectful. The staff has rules on how many can be in a canoe or kayak. The limits are two on a tandem kayak and a max if two in a canoe that clearly...More

Very quiet place to visit. The Lake itself is quite beautiful. There are numerous areas around the Lake for picnics and large get-togethers. I have never been fishing there but those that have really enjoyed it. It's just a short drive south of Raleigh.

If you like laid back areas and nice scenery this should be a cool place for your family to picnic or enjoy the water.

Lake Wheeler is beautiful. The park is nicely kept with boat launch, picnic and grill areas, trails, and plenty to do to keep you busy.

Not always a place to relax and unwind, as hot days and/or weekends bring out the folks with kids/dogs, etc.
