Went here with group tour. We were only allowed to take pictures with the big statue of Mao Zedong and then back to the mini train and return to bus. Actually many things can be explored from this island but we don't have enough time.

Nothing too special- there are nice views along the water, but Changsha isn't really a pretty city. Worth going for the big Mao head though- it is very big...

Take a full day to visit the gardens and sites of the Tangerine Island (or Orange Island as it is also known). Access is easy by Metro and you can spend the day walking around the lakes and parks. Good clean family day out.

Definitely worth a visit. Very peaceful considering you are in a massive city. The statue of the big man is amazing.

Absolutely a nice place to go, cause it is free to all people and it is green in the entire year even in winter. On the island is one President Mao's statue,83 meters long, 41 meters wide and 32 meters tall, facing to the east....More

What a nice island to go for! On this orange island, nothing seemed orange at all! There are green grass fields in the distance and you can see Mao Zedong's big head statue, doesn't really portray his old image but still an Oscar Wilde like...More

There are many sculptures made from steel along to road to Mao statue, which is at the far end. Recommend to ride the mini train for time-saving which would cost around 20 Yuan. Walking is also great if you have some free time.

On speaking to my wife she said that the Brazilian restaurant is in the grassed park area just past the administration building and a large restaurant inside. It is on the left hand side as you walk to the bathing area. I... More
