I honestly don't understand what people find beautiful about this place. In my experience, it was the worst beach I've ever visited! It's dirty and disgusting, ruined by tourism. After swimming, I found my feet covered in crude oil—apparently a common issue here, as they provide olive oil to remove the sticky substance. It wasn't just me; several others experienced this too. This seems like clear evidence of an oil spill in the area, yet no one is addressing it. This is truly unacceptable!

This was the first beach that we visited while staying in Milos, Greece (and the first beach in Greece altogether). Our apartment was in Plaka, and we walked to Plathiena the first day and then again on the third to experience our final sunset on the island. The walk to the beach was @ 1.5 miles and was somewhat barren and picturesque at the same time, with a token pop-up church, of course along the way. There was sand (Greek beaches are known for mainly small pebbles), a beach bar and calm, clear water. I highly recommend as one of the better and moderately to less crowded beaches in all of Milos. #lsma

Plathiena is by far my favourite beach on Milos' peninsula with the villages (Adamas included). No bus goes there, so one needs private transport or uses a taxi. When i first came to Milos there was no road to this place, only a beautiful path. And this is the way I still go to Plathiena till now.

From the village of Plaka, before the ascent to Kastro, one goes left. First is a 'kalderimi', as the Greeks call a rough stone paved mule path, then one comes into the small dirt road, which leads to Fourkovouni. All along the way are fantastic rock formations and colours, which alone make it worth to use the about half an hour hike to the beach. And naturally we then always walk the same way back.

Plathiena is now an organized beach with a cantina and sunbeds and umbrellas for rent. Further out are very few tamarisk trees, which also offer some shade. The beach faces west and is thus not very much exposed to the prevailing northern winds. The beach is sandy and it is easy to get into the water. On top the sea in this bay always has a nice colour.

Quiet beach in the north part of the island. There is a small canteen where you can find anything from water to snacks, only a few umbrellas and sea beds are available, so if you want them you should go early. On the far right side of the beach there are some trees where you can find some shade. Overall a nice, quiet beach to spend a relaxing day.

Although we did not stay at Pollonia we visited by bus from Adamas. It seemed a really family friendly place and the beach was lovely with shallow clean water. There were some good places to eat and a couple of supermarkets. I would say a very relaxing and quiet location. We visited the winery just a few minutes walk from the beach and there was a lovely shop/café that sold all it's own honey products, cakes etc. This was just on the road in from Adamas. I think it is called the Apanemia.

The water is beautiful, and its a sandy beach.
Nice and not too crowded.

This was my favorite beach in Milos, until I found an even better one the following day (Firiplaka). It has lots of great soft sand and a nice gradual slope out into the clear blue water. The day we went it was not windy and there were no waves. The scenery was really nice on both sides. There were chairs and umbrellas available to rent and a small canteen. The drive down was not bad, but we did get a little tied up in the streets of Plaka before we found the signs. There is a large paved parking lot. There were a lot of people there when we visited in July 2014 but it did not feel overcrowded. Had a great time!

Nice beach, smaller side but surprisingly very accessible. Beach bar for drinks and food, bathrooms and even an outdoor shower. A fair bit of parking and umbrellas and chairs.

This was an amazing beach with crystal clear water. Try to get there early to secure a nice spot. There are few umbrellas.

This was our first beach in Milos and I was blown away. It's absolutely stunning. The water is shallow, the beach clean and the water...ah the water!! Just amazing. You can rent a lounger for 3.5 Euro or lay on your towel. Whatever you do don't miss this beautiful beach.
