Stunning under water viewing in crystal clear water. A natural spring so expect some algae on top of the water.Take a mask and snorkel to really appreciate the crystal clear water. We also take a pool noodle everywhere so floating around these pools is easy....More

We enjoyed our trip down the road for a refreshing swim. There was a bit of algae about but still a lovely natural spot for a swim.

There were no crocs in the water when we visited. Having come from the thermal pools at Elsey National Park the day before, we rated this one star less. In addition, it was very hot, and I did not go into the water because I...More

We found heaven on earth right here. The water is crystal clear and so warm even i got in. Nice big car park and an easy walk to the springs. Apparently fresh water crocs can inhabit the area but the water is so clear you...More

Would be great after the wet season. Was a bit slimey and stagnant when we visited but people were still swimming here. Was closed for a week or 2 due to croc taking up residence.

This is a slightly different review since we couldn't visit because it was closed on 29/9/17 due to a croc in the area. The purpose of this review is to note that when it's open, you should take the advice from others as to what...More

While in Darwin we read that there was a large fresh water croc visiting. However, it either kept a low profile or had gone several days later. The swim in the creek was energising, easy to paddle/float in the direction of the current. Best to...More

Bitter Springs at Mataranka is just the place to relax as you float with your noodle about 200 meters down stream in crystal clear 32c turquoise green water. Then walk back to do it again.

Unbelievably beautiful. So serene and peaceful floating down the stream of thermal water, where the water is so clear you can see every pebble, leaf, plant under the water. Must be the clearest water in the world!

Yes, I think two days would be enough as there is not much to do. Depends on yourself if you just like to relax

For memory the car park was quite small but the Mataranka thermal pool had a much bigger car park which would fit caravans there is plenty of room there. That is any abou 7klms down the road.

Yes. Saw a large one here yesterday. But the ranger says usually only very small ones.
