This is a GREAT local museum run by incredibly dedicated and knowledgeable local people with some wonderful artifacts in a historically significant building. Don't just go there expecting to see neat stuff, go there for the stories and to find out where else to go, who to see and for all the wonderful stories. If I were going to Salisbury,... More

There is not a lot to it but it is clearly worth 30 minutes to an hour of your time. A lot of the cheerwine history is presented. It in the rear of the building to the left of the courthouse.

Cheerwine is a soft drink celebrating a 100 year anniversary. The museum had one of every one of the bottles that the company had used throughout the years. I grew up in Salisbury and Cheerwine is a family favorite.

I have been to this museum many times over the years. It contains many old artifacts from this area. Many things on loan (I think) or museum owned. There is something new every time I visit.

This is a great local museum. It highlights Rowan County history. It has changing exhibits so there is something different to see and learn each time you go. The last exhibit dealt with Viet Nam. It was a n emotional visit for many. The current Civil Rights exhibit reminds us that the "good old days" were not so good for... More

Not only is this place a museum, but it is a great venue for a wedding, a wedding reception, a place to have an elegant event or other celebration!

We utilized the upstairs space for our wedding reception. It is a lovely space and can accommodate at least 100 people, maybe more. There are beautiful balcony railings, columns and room enough for a small dance floor. Our reception was in June, 2007. It did get warm during the afternoon hours (not sure if the a/c has been updated since... More

The Museum is also holding a wonderful Reenactment even in May: You are cordially invited to join in the celebration of the 225th Anniversary of George Washington's Tour of the Southern States in Salisbury, NC. May 21, 2016

I love the mercantile store which is always changing. The volunteers work hard to change exhibits so you can always see something new. We had our High School reunion at the second floor and it was wonderful, especially the front porch at night overlooking downtown.
