Great birdwatching and stroll along the Avon River. Fantastic information about the Noongar culture. Well worth a visit when in Northam.

With shady paths, seating, and parks overlooking the river, the suspension bridge over it, and the many water birds in it, there is a lot to like here. Introduced ducks, geese and white swans add to the atmosphere.

The Avon river is exactly as it states a river, there are paths along each side of the river but there is nothing of note which makes it a must visit location.

I have lived in Northam for nearly 3 decades but I'm always finding new places to explore. Most people who visit Northam might go as far as a walk around the bridges. That in itself is lovely and even on that walk the visitor will...More

The Avon River is tranquil, beautiful and full of bird life. I love the white swans and the interesting picnic spots and trails to explore.

The river is quite wide because it has been dammed. You cant swim in it, but there is usually a good number of water birds, who will come up looking for food. There are some large white swans (not native) and occasionally black (native) swans....More

The walk along the the river bank is a relaxing stroll with great scenery. Great photo opportunity of the magnificence of the river can be achieved on the pedestrian suspension bridge near Northam town centre. Relax and unwind as you won't regret it.
