What a wonderful hiking adventure, in general. Gorgeous State Park is everything I would want in a hike. Great nature hike with a few slippery spots due to the rain. I won't say it is an easy hike but it isn't too strenuous either. Waterfalls...More

The visitor center is new and has lots of exhibits that children and adults will like. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy lunch and a view. We hiked the Rainbow Falls Trail total about 3 miles up and down. Difficult but manageable for families...More

Visted this park in early April on my venture to visit all NC state parks. By far, my favorite park. Beautiful visitor center. Hike to Rainbow Falls! Wow what a view! Nice picnic areas and restrooms.

This state park has several waterfalls and some easy hiking trails (harder ones available if you wish). If you need a break from city life and work, this is a beautiful place to take it.

Gorgeous year around. Make sure to visit the visitors center too. Read the signs! Although this place is worth the hike in ,and out, and the waterfalls and little spring flowers are acceptional, there is always danger on the slick rocks. Enjoy this wonderland, but...More

Off the beaten path but well worth the look is this state park. Starting at what has to be one of the most attractive visitor centers at any government level, you can hike from the center or drive to other paved trailheads for hikes varying...More

Wife and I have an enjoyable time away from the concrete jungle. Enjoyed our time without the TV, cellphones, iPad and other electronic toys. Very beautiful and quiet place to just enjoy one another. Go for it

We lucked out and hiked this area on a 70 degree day in the middle of February! The cool mist from the falls was refreshing at the apex of our hike. With it being winter, the trees did not block much of the view so...More

This is a beautiful park. The main building is LEED certified for efficiency. Great facility. It is a moderate hike to Rainbow Falls and well worth it. Parking and access is very well maintained as are the trails. Definitely will be back. Enjoy your visit....More

Are the campsites for backpackers only? Would love to camp here but we're strictly car campers at the moment - we've never been backpacking! Thanks!

We have a group of motorcycles. Would this be a good stop? Most can't do a lot of incline walking.
