Our first visit here was a total success. We rented a beach house for a week. No worries. No crazy stuff on the beach. Lovely winds and waves. Look for turtles and crabs, shells and shark teeth. Super casual.

1st time we"ve been and we loved it . Not as commercial and hectic as other places we've been . Plenty of places to eat and things to do . Plan on going back next year.

Enjoyed famil time at the beach. Dog friendly. There is less activities there so if you want plenty of action, maybe not the place to go but to relax and no hustle bustle. Great place.

This isn't the typical beach location. There is very little commercialization of this island. Most of the stores are mom and pops, no larger boardwalk, no amusement park. You won't find alot of restaurants (though there are some), and no highrise hotels. If you just...More

Do not book your vacation stay through Access Reality! Our trip was canceled because the groom was put on stand by to be deployed to Syria. Although this was a military reason, Access Reality would not work with us at all. We asked them to...More

I have been coming here since I was a very small kid. I have always loved this place because it's not like Myrtle Beach and Emerald Isle, It's a slower quiet place with just enough to do.

This island has much to recommend it, but it looks very tackily commercial downtown, has a very busy main road, and the beach has some strong currents. I have been spoiled by the gulf coast of Florida, and the choppy, roiling surf on this island...More

There are some waves and they are definitely better for younger kids--- think of Myrtle Beach type waves BUT smaller with a much more relaxing and way better maintained Beach Front Space, sand, and way less of a crowd... More

Yes. One is indeed around the middle of the island. It's smaller but on the same side of 210 as the beach. Another is just a few miles south of the north bridge near Sneed's Ferry. It's larger, features some trees, and has... More

Daddy Mac's if you can get in. Most romantic? Go to Thomas seafood and produce buy some mussels (frozen) and make some linguine with mussels in wine sauce and eat on your deck watching the sunset
