This museum was so interesting, so much local history !! We enjoyed every exhibit. The civil war really came alive ! The giant sloth in the entry. was amazing. The only disappointment was a group of school children were there and they weren't very well behaved...loud and running through the museum.

This is a fantastic museum, which treats all aspects of the history of the area and of Wilmington. The current Film Exhibit is great. We didn't know what to expect, but this a worthwhile afternoon.

took two boys ages 6 and 7 this past summer when it was too hot to play outside one afternoon. They boys really engaged with all of the exhibits and asked questions as well. The museum offers many activities to supplement the museum experience,

What a wonderful display on the history of Wilmington. Take the time to be a tourist in your own town.

The Cape Fear Museum is a wonderful and worthwhile place to spend some time on any visit to Wilmington. It gives a complete picture of of Wilmington, its history, the nature that surrounds it and the importance of the Cape Fear River to the development of the area. A recent addition to the Museum is the garden area filled with... More

I found this museum very interesting. There was a special exibit on the movies, which are extensive, filmed in the Wilmington area. We didn't get there until early afternoon, and they close at 5pm during the week. I will go back earlier in the day the next time I'm in Wilmington. The only downside was that they have done away... Take your time when you go to this museum. We went in with little knowledge of the History of Wilmington. Each stop on this self guided tour was filled with great insight regarding the past and what Wilmington has now become. Wilmington was brought alive by the exhibits in this great museum.

I enjoy history and the sea, so this was an enjoyable experience. While one should not expect a "world class" museum, for a local museum it is very good. As you would expect, there is a great deal of variation of the quality of exhibits (subjective, to be sure). However, I find Wilmington's and Cape Fear's history very interesting and... More
