My wife and I walked the entire river walk and walked back on Front Street. Many new shops and restaurants. The river walk is in segments due to construction but the shops are open and lots of street activity. The Historic Area is filled with quaint businesses. Well worth a stroll.

I live in Charleston, SC, so I have high standards when it comes to historical districts. Wilmington's not only meets, but exceeds them. Smaller than the historical districts of Charleston and Savannah, but quite charming. Less pretentious. And far cheaper. Lots to see and do. A wide range of great restaurants. Some good shops. And if you're a bibliophile, be... More

Beautiful historic district, interesting, quaint with a lot of fascinating history. We did the tour on the trolley bus and the guide was so informative but would have liked the trip to be a little longer.

Great place to visit this is the type of place where you can come and really enjoy yourself. I do try to come down here as much as possible as my son and daughter in law live and work here and seem to enjoy living here.

When we first visited Wilmington, there wasn't any construction - now there is but that just means that good will become better! We love the Riverwalk and have enjoyed walking, sitting, looking and dining outside at The George with our dog. (Tofu Taco's are delicious (whoda' thought)? Great for people and boat watching - it's don't miss if you're in... More

Wilmington's historic district is well worth a visit. From the Battleship North Carolina to the early 20th century architecture found on many of the buildings, Wilmington is a fantastic city for examining history and relaxing.

Really enjoyed walking and shopping in the downtown area. Was a bit torn up because of construction on the riverwalk but looks like it will be awesome once construction is finished.

Wilmington has a lot of charm, located on the Cape Fear River. It is a charming historic city, but lively with varied shopping, great restaurants & historic sights.

We love walking around downtown! Always something new to discover. Took the River Walk last weekend and had a glass of wine while watching the sunset!

Well preserved area with a great amount of historical interest. Many shops & restaurants. Homes dating back to before 1800. Many different tour types available: walking, horse & carriage, Segway, etc.
