Greenfield Park/Lake sits only a 1/2 mile off the Cape Fear River and the stream creating the lake was dammed up as early as the 1730's to aid in rice production. By the 1800's there were various mills located here and in 1912 it was...More

Beautiful park. Unfortunately, unless I missed it, the trail around the park is actually the sidewalks of the streets around the park.

Two of us brought our own kayaks and found an easy boat launch. Third person rented there. She was a beginner and had a great time. The sights and sounds were awesome: egrets, turtles, alligators. Pausing at the back of the amphitheater we were also...More

This place is a Wilmington jewel. If you are in town check Greenfield lake website and get tickets for whatever is playing. The venue is small so there is not a bad seat in the house. Movement, once you are inside, is easy, bathrooms clean,...More

We had a good walk on a Sunday-afternoon... Quiet, fun, we saw some alligators (and a lot of turtles!!)... Good time to just enjoy being together and look at nature. It was very hot that day, but under the trees it was good walking.

We went right after it had rained, so the park wasn't very busy. There are several places to sit for a picnic. The bathrooms are well maintained, although the soap was out in the women's bathroom that particular day. Otherwise, a wonderful place to stop.

Greenfield Park has been around for a long, long time. It is quite lovely. The paved path circumnavigates the park -- it is a long walk! Rent a peddle boat and cruise the lake. Alligators and birds and turtles. All so beautiful.

I regularly walk around Greenfield Lake in the winter (5+) miles and it is truly serene and beautiful. A hidden gem in the city that many locals don't realize exists. I've seen a gator or two in my walks mostly in the water or on...More

Our former home was located just a block away from the loop that is part of Greenfield Lake, and as long as the weather was nice we would go there almost every day. The loop around the lake is great to walk, run, or bike...More

My experience is that you can see from the general admission seats. That is the way we always go. It's an small amphitheater so you car close no matter where you sit. Get there early for best seats. We bring a picnic to... More
