The museum was so poorly done. I was looking forward to seeing the history of the island and all that was shown was a model of the island and pictures for sale.

This is a well curated small museum. It is a former beach cottage set up the way they were when the beach first became popular. It has many photos and displays that show the history of the beach, the devastation from Hurricane Hazel and the Lumina and what life was like there decades ago. Takes about an hour to go... More

Learn about the trolley that once was the main way to get to Wrightsville, the old cottages (not many left!), Lumina, the devastating fire, and the long-gone and wonderful way of life!

Definitely recommend stopping here. The original beach trolley car from 1920 was really exceptional. Staff was great too.

Josh was our docent. He was very friendly, engaging, interesting, and had an encyclopedic amount of local knowledge. The museum itself is an original 1907 Tidewater Electric beach house that some forward thinking individual salvaged and moved from its ocean front location inland to its present location on Harbor Island. Pictures, artifacts, paintings, and models cram the interior rooms. Wrightsville... More

Max was our tour guide and he was wonderful, personable and oh so very knowledgeable about the area and the history. How nice it is that folks had the forethought to move this1909 cottage to the new location to serve as a welcome center of sorts to the historic Wrightsville Beach area. Much of the interior still furnished in the... More

This is a small historical area museum. It's a great stop over if you never been to Wrightsville Beach. What makes this museum unique is the miniature model off the beach area in times gone by. The detail is really amazing. You can almost feel that you are transported back to the days when the beach had a trolley as... More

Volunteer Anne S. was a gem both in her giving me island history, sharing her joy of all things Wrightsville Beach and telling me about the 125 journals that were left to the museum by a local couple who left a journal with pen for one-page entries by just anybody passing by. Lovely idea and intriguing journal content! Delightful stop... More

Museum is located in a quaint little cottage. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. I enjoyed viewing the historic furnishings and displays. Museum is located on the Wrightsville "loop" so it is convenient to stop in during your walk around the island.
