I was especially interested in the flood control project in Grand Forks since I worked on a number of flood problems in my career in city planning. I toured the attractive flood wall, watched the flood film at the visitor center, and looked at the monuments regarding the 1997 flood. Obviously this subject is not for everyone, but if you... This was on our way to some "family history" stops and I thought it kind of nice as thisis a flood memorial and we were headed to Hinckley, Minnesota to the 1894 Fire memorial as that was a make or break of our family. Loved learning the history of this memorial and that it gets added to every so often... More

My daughter and I always start in the Memorial parking lot to use the bike trails. She is always amazed at how high the water level reached!

This is a nice park that offers a nice walk along the river. There are several areas with benches and it is a very serene location.

Interesting story behind this flood. The impact of this flood destroyed this city. But they rebuilt it all back. Shows the determination and pride of local leaders and citizens living here

Nice scenery here. I always love watching the river and looking at the flood lines! The path along the river is probably the most scenic thing in Grand forks so it's worth it if you're in town! :)

We were on the bike trip around the paved trail that goes around the two cities. This monument is on the bike trail right by downtown. It's hard to imagine the river that high. it was a fun stop.
