Cute little library and the museum had some really interesting stuff. Friendly locals too. Sign the book and leave a little donation.

We went to the Information Centre and inquired about internet. Sadly the library/museum was closed all morning. That was unfortunate as our cruise ship was only there in the morning! A lost opportunity I would have thought for the locals. However, the little white church with the pretty steeple was well worth visiting and open. It has very nice stained glass windows and it was sad to see two members commemorated in there with the same name. Two members of the same family killed in WW1 and WW2. I am glad I visited it.

Free little museum in the back in a separate room with a strange unusual brew of first nations and post contact items. Tiny teeny library with a couple of well used computers and lots of locals. A fun unique experience

Loaded with daily life artifacts of the early settlement of the Finnish people. Something to do while waiting for the ferry.

Great little Museum

This is a wonderful little library with a great museum at the back featuring old photo's, artifacts, carved masks, whale bones, old tools and machines etc. An excellent snapshot of the past in a very small space and free of charge, but donations gratefully accepted The librarian was very knowledgeable and helpful. Well worth the visit. Turn right when you exit the ferry, it's located in town beside the Visitor Info Center. Unfortunately picture taking is not permitted in the museum.

Run by Steven, assisted by founder, Joyce. Really friendly, knowledgable library. There are two free computers for checking email etc. It's an old time, traditional, small town library. Lovely.

Friendly genealogical research

Friends of ours had a distant relative who spent time in Alert Bay, so we stopped in at the local library to see what we could find. The librarian, Joyce, took the details and suggested we check with her the next day. Sure enough, she found a fifty-year old obituary, much to the appreciation of our friends.

The library itself is cozy, with the kind of collection you would look forward to in a small town. There is a small, free museum inn the back worth a visit.
