Great meal at a great location.
Historic Hat Creek Ranch is open for business. A friend and I had the best homemade hamburger there today. The food is excellent and the service is very friendly. We enjoyed the outdoor patio which has a nice view. They are having a Mother's Day brunch on Sunday and we plan on going.

    Definitely worth a visit!
A great place to visit! The history of the outdoor museum ranch was really interesting and staff were informative. It's quite a unique place and well worth a visit if you're in the area or passing through. The food in the restaurant was lovely, freshly cooked and tasty. We returned for cowboy coffees and home made blueberry muffins later in the day. The ice cream looked amazing!

    Upmarket prospectors hut
We had a great one night stay on a road trip from Vancouver to Calgari. Advertised as a gold prospectors hut with basic facilities we were more than happy to discover it was a bit of a glamping site. Bedroom, living kitchen and bathroom with a rear deck. Ok so hot water was a littke limited although we did not find it so. No wifi - expected that had to talk. Supper was in town but again we knew in advance so no hardship. Morning breakfast in the cafe was rather slow but was ok. All in all a pleasant stay.

Good spot to stop for us between Clearwater and Whistler to break up our long journey. We spent about an hour here and enjoyed learning about the old waggon routes and facilities the ranch offered as well at the indigenous population and their way of life

was with an organized group (JUL 8/23)with prepaid lunchion. Our guide kept them up to date about our arrival, as we were a bit late. Yet they were still not prepared for us. Long wait for food etc... Burgers, were not great. The buns were a sweet tasting bun not for a burger. They had not set out a reserved area for us. Another bus group that arrived after us with a prepaid snacks for the group. It was not a BBQ but burgers done on grill inside. Diisappointing. Staff looked lost.
Apart from the food the place is well kept & clean. But we had been on the road for awhile.

We regret paying to get into the ranch. There is very little to do there and the staff were definitely not into it. Literally 30 minutes had us looking at everything and took a very short (5 min) stage coach ride. However the accommodations were good. We stayed in an air conditioned family cabin and it was decent. No couch, just a Bistro set for sitting on, but it was just fine for a night. Had a queen bed and bunk beds and a fridge. We could wander the ranch after hours which again seemed dumb that we paid $17 each since we had after hours access. For an August long weekend I thought there would have been stuff going on. I'm not even sure what we paid for

Planned to stop here briefly on our way from kamloops to whistler with our two teens. We weren’t sure whether we’d pay to go in or just stop by the shop/cafe. We’re so glad we paid to go in. Started with a great demo by a blacksmith (even got to take the nail he made home!). Then we were offered a ride on a wagon - which was a lovely way to see some of the site. We were dropped off at the ranch house - and it was a real gem. Lots of lots of rooms to explore both upstairs and downstairs. We could go right in most rooms and see how they were used - so it didn’t feel so much like a museum. The various building around were really interesting too (even our teens were engaged) and we even saw a farrier at work fitting horse shoes. The First Nations Village was really interesting to visit too - lots of information and two guides who were very informative. Ended out visit with ice creams and great coffee. Well done historic hat creek!

Very disappointing. Whilst it was interesting to wander around the ranch, that took 30 minutes at most, and that was all there was for us to do. The stagecoach rides weren’t running, there were no tour guides, and there was only one live demonstration (the blacksmith, who was excellent).

We asked when we entered what time the rides and tours were happening, which would have been the perfect opportunity to tell us they weren’t, and we were told to just approach members of staff inside and we’d get a tour. There were no members of staff to approach, other than a stagecoach driver, who told us he was only transporting a school group, and that there were no public rides or tours that day. We payed full admission price to get less than half of what is advertised, and it wasn’t worth the price.

The icecream in the restaurant was unfortunately the only redeeming factor.

you see this village near the side of the road. it's small and it's like a yeah well oh... somewhat historic with two fake indian tents. But maybe this is the best there is in this area.

We stayed here for one night on our way through the area. They have some hookup sites that were full so we stayed in the open field and dry camped. It is in a pleasant setting between hills so we enjoyed sitting and watching an evening thunderstorm roll through. I thought $30 was a bit high for parking in a field but that would be my only criticism. The staff at checkin were very friendly and helpful.

The Ranch itself was interesting, but very quiet since it was the end of the season. There was one volunteer in period costume in the Roadhouse who was very informative, but all of the other buildings were just reading information on the plaques.
