In August 2020, me and 4 friends were flown from Tyaughton Lake to Lorna Lake. We paid the extra to have our bags dropped in Spruce Lake to make our first big day of biking a bit easier. Funny enough about 6km into our nearly 30km day of biking from Lorna to Spruce, my peddle fell off due to a stripped crank shaft, the day just got a whole lot spicier!

I introduced myself to Heather, the cabin host that was closest to our campsite and she was so warm and welcoming. We quickly connected and decided to head off on a hike together as it was her day off. Lucky enough, right as we headed out we heard the float plane coming in. We ran back to speak to Dale and he patiently took a picture of my crank shaft "I think I'll be back Thursday". Fortunately he came back through the very next day on Wednesday and I was able to join my party on that days ride. What a legend!!!

The service, the energy, and the wilderness AMAZING! Thank you so much for offering this.

From a totally stoked human being!

A truly fantastic experience. We are four experienced mountain bikers - our trip was a helicopter trip up the mountain and then a 5 hour ride down, guided by a professional rider. It was just amazing and fair value for money, Our guide Liam was brilliant - he appreciated what we wanted, assessed our skills and abilities and tailored our ride accordingly. It goes without saying that the helicopter drop was a 'once in a lifetime' type feature although we'd all be very keen to do it again ! Our advice to anyone looking for a similar day of riding is simply ' go for it '.

Our family used the floatplane service to drop us off at Taseko Lake for a 7 day non-guided hike back to the starting point. Great service. Wonderful hike. Got a bit lost on Sheba ridge but did find the campsite. Would not do ridge in poor visibility. Good to have GPX file for navigation. The rest of the hike was easy. Amazing alpine flowers in first week of August.

Signed up for the warner lake trip with my wife and another couple. Camped next door at the tyax lodge which was essentially a grass field with sites one after another. Very basic, no privacy, but on a beautiful lake and the priority was the mountain biking.
No one from tyax was anywhere to be seen the night before or in the morning with info about departure time, where to meet the plane or our exact route.
Next, our trail from the camp to the float plane started disintegrating half way around the lake to the point we were bushwhacking, carrying our bikes and our shoes were soaked from puddles.
Once we emerged at the plane our guide laughed at us and said “oh ya, we told the lodge to put up more signs”.
Maybe put up the signs yourself or give the trail some much needed maintenance.
The float plane itself was amazing and beautiful.
The trail we signed up said 1268 m decent and 262 uphill. We ended up recording 800m down and 613m up.
That’s 3x the expected uphill, which is a lot when we just paid a plane to drop us off. So if your looking for an “enduro” style day, it’s way more xc style with a lot of flat sections.
The top quarter of the trail had some fun flowy sections, but halfway down the trail became overgrown with weeds that were above head height. It seems that a some spring/ summer trial trimming would go a long way.
Our guide rode way ahead, didn’t seem very interested in conversation and gave wrong information all the time on what was upcoming on the route. I’d recommend no guide and use Trailforks, which is where we got accurate info during our ride.
The Warner trail follows a creek bed for the second half, which is shared with the horses that bring in gear for the multi day tyax trips. If you’ve ever ridden through horse prints before you know how much horses ruin bike trails.
I couldn’t believe I paid so much money to ride a horse trail!!
Either send your horses another way or build a bike specific trail instead of multi-using the gold rush trails that were already on your tenure before the float plane bike adventures started.

It gets one point for the views and the beautiful lakes we biked past.

I’ve had better alpine experiences, spent less money and rode MUCH better trails when I’ve been self guided.

Hello Travis, We are deeply sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your recent visit. Thank you for advising us with a detailed explanation. We will be addressing the items within our control. To clarify a few items: We at Tyax Adventures do not have any control over the campsite nor the trail you mention along Tyaughton Lake. Both facilities are owned by a different company: Tyax Resort. We have asked Tyax Resort multiple times to place a sign in their campsite directing their clients to the proper trail to our base. We cannot erect signs nor do trail maintenance on someone else’s property. We did send your group leader information on June 9th and 11th that described how to get to our location, including not to use the trail along the lake. There does seem to be some error regarding the uphill and downhill portions of the trail between Warner Lake and Gun Creek Road. There is a net loss of 1000m as Warner is at an elevation of 1865 m and GCR at 880m. Trailforks lists the whole route as having -1606m + 635m We will be remeasuring this ride and updating the exact details before next season. Your devise should have recorded at least 1000 m decent and more likely closer to 1600m. Our Warner Lake Tour is advertised as: “Cross-country/ All mountain backcountry single track”. The trails are considered backcountry and remote in nature. The riding overall is cross-country/all mountain in style. You can expect a mixture of the following: - Rolling single track terrain made up of some ups and downs, combined with some flatter sections of trail-sandy in nature the closer you get to the valley, - Occasional short up hills that require a good base level of fitness, and a burst of effort to ride or a small hike-a-bike, - Sections of somewhat technically challenging riding along the rocky shores of two alpine lakes, and across some rock slides. Requires good bike handling skills and good concentration, - Some short sections of single track that can be a little off camber and/or slightly exposed. - The usual trail hazards, such as roots and rocks We do not facilitate “Enduro” or “Downhill” type riding which you will find at purpose built MTB facilities. My apologies if that was your impression. Once again, thank you for your feedback, we will use it to improve the information presented to future customers.

Five of us booked the Warner Lake floatplane for a friend's birthday. When we arrived, the guide informed us that Spruce Lake was recommended if you had not done Warner Lake before. Huh? Since when? That info is not stated on the website anywhere AND we exceeded the minimum requirements for the skill and fitness rating. Our big plans were shattered and for reasons unknown she wouldn't take us to Warner Lake even after we tried to convince her we are skilled riders (we've ridden the North Shore for 20 years). We definitely did not get the alpine experience we signed up for:( Although they refunded us the difference it was money and time wasted. To make matters worse, at the end of the ride the guide said to us, "You guys would've been totally fine on Warner Lake." Tyax sent out a feedback form and I invited them to discuss this situation but never heard back. I guess they don't care after they have your money! Keep your hard eared money and buy yourself a nice upgrade for your bike.

Hi Ridebikez, Thanks for reaching out. Your feedback is very much appreciated in order for us to grow and improve as an operation. We received your group's original feedback via our own form and our manager had sent an email reply to a member of your group on July 21st, copied below: "Thank you for reaching out. I’m sorry to hear your group was disappointed with your tour. As it stands, tours get catered to the weakest rider. Though I am 100% confident some of your riders were capable of riding out from Warner Lake, unfortunately the whole group was not. Our Warner Lake tour is exactly double the Spruce Lake tour and includes more technical riding. From a guiding perspective it is safer and better for the group to have finished a ride with energy, than to be stuck halfway through completely exhausted and out of steam. Due to our location and remoteness it is extremely important to run a safe operation. As I am sure you are aware, when riders get taken into situations where they are in over their head, accidents happen; this alone is something we aim to avoid as a company on all of our tours. Again, my apologies for the way things turn out, and having to re-route the whole group to Spruce Lake. I do encourage those who would feel 100% confident riding out from Spruce Lake twice, with more technical riding involved, to return and try our Warner Lake tour." It is unfortunate you didn't appreciate the recommendation from our guide and our 20+ years experience safely guiding thousands of clients. At Tyax Adventures, safety is our number one priority. In order for our guides to take a group on a tour, the whole group must be able to complete the tour in a safe manner. Your group had 4 people at one level and 1 person at a lower level; our tours are always predicated on the weakest member of your group, and therefore your guide recommended Spruce Lake as a safe alternate. Yes, 4 of you guys would've been "totally fine on Warner Lake" but in our guide's opinion, the 5th member was not. I am sorry that you were "shattered" by only riding 35 kms of single-track on a route that left the group options in case of emergency/fatigue, as opposed to the 42 kms of a Warner Tour with no option of an early exit. Our guide choose safety over money, as the tour selected resulted in our company voluntarily issuing you a refund for the cost difference while our guide also had a shorter of a work day, resulting in less wages earned for them. We hope next time you're interested in a guided MTB tour, you think about us and enjoy the new upgrade to your bike. Kind Regards, Tyax Adventures Team

This was a fabulous float plane trip from Tyax Lodge to a Glacier Lake where we landed on the lake and went ashore to see the Glacier. It was so beautiful! Maxie is an extremely competent pilot and shared much local knowledge with us. We would definitely recommend this tour!

With 8 guys in their late 40s/early 50s of varying skill and fitness, our guides Jeff and Ben couldn’t have been more accommodating and inspiring over 2 days of riding. Coupled with stunning views, amazing tracks and good food it was a bucket list experience checked.

One small improvement - crocs for big feet.

I recently completed a multi-day backpacking tour with Tyax Adventures, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. Our adventure began with a safe and comfortable flight to Lorna Lake, followed by a cold dip, setting the tone for what would be an incredible journey.

As we made our way through the stunning wilderness of the South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park, we stopped at Bear Paw Camp and Spruce Camp to rest and recharge. At each location, we were greeted by incredibly friendly hosts who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. After long days of hiking, the hearty and delicious meals they prepared were exactly what we needed.

Exploring the park on foot, as opposed to a mountain bike trip, offered a completely different perspective. It allowed me to slow down, truly take in the breathtaking scenery, and connect with the natural beauty of the area. The opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, be present in the moment, and share this experience with wonderful people was priceless.

I can’t wait to be back for another adventure with Tyax Adventures. Highly recommended!

This trip was so incredibly amazing. I was travelling solo and joined a father and son team on a guided 3 day, 2 night mixed group mountain biking tour. The mountain biking was challenging but so fun and rewarding. Our guide was excellent and he chose some great routes that were perfectly suited for the group's abilities and interests. We rode through so many different microclimates and had a great mix of lung-searing climbs, flow-y single track, and technical sections. The camp hosts were awesome: I've never eaten so well in the backcountry! I can't wait to come back again!

What an amazing adventure!!! Great guide Pete who judged the rides perfectly and was really good company (not to mention a rather talented rider), great hosts (Emery and Laurie), views that did not disappoint (including seeing grisly bears and a bald eagle) and great trails. Highly recommended.
