Very unique experience to see how and where your hydro comes from.

Very good tour, and really impressive to see how the dam works. I really recommend doing the tour. You will enjoy the exhibits in the visitor center.
The little cafe is run locally and is really great food. A definite must see if you are in Hudson's Hope

Really enjoyed walking around the area, driving across the dam and of course taking in the incredible view. Missed the information centre, will definitely return during the summer months when it is open, it looked like a well done display. Well worth a visit to the area !

Impressive visitor center + impressive dam and operation + good tour. The exhibits in the visitor center are quite good and the staff are quite informative if you chat with them. There are some nice items (and a really good view) on the grounds around the center. Reserve if you can, we had to wait a bit over an hour for an upcoming tour, but there was plenty to see and do, so the time went quickly. Don't miss driving across the dam to the elevated viewpoint on the opposite side. The tour itself is fun and educational, with the highlight being the huge interior area where the water exits the turbines and heads out of the dam -- very cool! Add in a couple of eagles on the spillway and we had a great visit.

Turning water into power

We were visiting relatives in Fort St John and they suggested we visit here. We really enjoyed the tour. The guides could answer your questions and was interesting to see the dam from the inside out and and area around the dam.

Dam Fine Tour (Sorry)

The puns are going to fly when visiting W.A.C. Bennett Dam, but Dam, it is worth it! This was my first visit of the Dam and Dam it was spectacular. We were greeted warmly and politely. We arrived about 25 minutes before the next tour started, which there are plenty of tour times, every hour starting on the half hour. We had lunch at the little lunch counter (tip, have some gluten free items on your menu) and it was the perfect amount. Our tour guide was friendly and informative and our bus driver was very funny and was included in the tour. The tour takes about 35-45 minutes and there is a bit of walking involved. The tour guide always makes sure the group is all together and is never in a hurry. The Dam is a spectacular feat of engineering and a marvel. Make sure to look at all the exhibits in the visitors centre and just enjoy! Definitely hope to visit the Dam again.

Dam Good Fun! (Sorry) And Informative
Jun. 2019 • Friends
We all know something about how hydroelectric power is generated. This wonderful tour is awesome in scope and easy to understand. You will go inside the dam, then drive across it. The scale is astonishing. Everyone will learn something new. Our guide was so enthusiastic--it was infectious.
There's a lovely picnic spot--we saw a family gathering there, everyone enjoying the shady trees.
My friend wanted to go-- I was, like whatever, but went along. Why not?
This turned out to be a great experience. Highly recommend especially for kids. It's fun.

While visiting Northern BC we stopped in to the WAC Bennett Dam. This was very interesting and informative experience. The natural scenery is incredible. The Dam is massive! The Visitor Centre is small but contains an interactive display of the hydroelectric process. It provides a platform for the First Nations People to explain their concerns about the dam. It also explains the impact the building of the dam had on the the wildlife and the environment. The tour of the inner workings of the dam itself was amazing! The tour guide explained almost every question we had prior to us asking. Traveling so far inside the operating dam was an experience. You could sense the enormous power of the water. Outside we drove over the top of the Dam itself which was sensational. The minimal cost was definitely worth it. We had a dam fine time!!

Absolutely amazing

This was a very informative tour that takes you 500 meters underground into the bowels of the Dam. It is an engineering marvel when you see first hand all of the guts of how electricity is created. The venue and tour are excellent and cheap! Well done BC Hydro, I also admire how you have predominately displayed the affect of this project on the neighbouring first nations.
