Elephant Island began as a family haven, a place of summer picnics, orchard...

Elephant Island began as a family haven, a place of summer picnics, orchard adventures and magical holidays on the Naramata Bench. Today the elephant has grown into a 6,000 case winery driven to craft wines of character. Wines that sing with the unconventional voice of vanguard fruit. Wines that are balanced by a reverence for traditional winemaking practices. Wines that are rooted and inspired by family history.

This winery, and all the others make for a grand weekend. My review is not only for Elephant Island, but for the whole of little Naramata. We live in a small town and enjoyed being in this small town for 4 days. Life is slow (way slower than it must have been 60 years ago), the Village is sweet and... More

This is a small winery and super-friendly. They offered a free tasting of 4 wines: all were delicious. I ended up buying several bottles of desert wine because they will pair perfectly with home made pie. I've had some really ghastly fruit wine in the past, but the options at Elephant Island are excellent.

My wife and I generally do not drink dry wines but prefer sweet desert wines and liquers. We were directed here by another winery and were very glad we came. Driving in through the orchard would not be possible in a large van or small motorhome as my crew cab truck barely fit. Once inside we were given a wine... More

I loved my experience at elephant island. We were able to sit on the patio and enjoy the sun and the breeze on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. There is no charge for the tasting of their fruit wines but you're pretty much guaranteed to find at least one that you love. It took a while for us to get service... More

We heard about Elephant Island Orchard Wines at the Penticton Visitors Center and made a point to get there after hiking on the KVR. It was so much more than we expected. We tasted all the wines available. We were well informed on each one. We decided to get Mama Elephant Methode Champenoise. We used it to celebrate my husband's... More

This orchard winery is well worth the visit. It's nice to have something different, as this winery only offers fruit wines. Their raspberry dessert wine is to die for and their staff is very friendly. I would highly recommend a stop here!

We were treated to a really nice sitting area under trees overlooking the valley. The Pink Elephant was great but the most amazing was the Framboise liquid raspberry heaven! They also have a cherry wine, a must stop on your wine tour.

I did a wine tour and have to say this was my favorite one of all! I guess I love fruit wines... I loved that we got to do our tasting on the deck as it was a relaxing atmosphere. I really wish all the wineries were like this one. The orchard is beautiful, the staff are very nice. Our... More

Seven years ago we lived in the Kootenays and used to visit wineries in the Okanagan a lot. I have never been a fan of fruit wines, but somehow Elephant Island is different. The winery is a bit tricky to get into (you drive down the hill past it and then loop back up into the orchard) and the parking... More

I had heard from other reviewers that the tastings here were free, and that you were welcome to bring your own picnic. We stopped at the General Store (very slim pickings here!), got some cheese and crackers, and made our way to Elephant Island. The friendly, bubbly host offered us a cutting board and knife and we sat out on... More
