Living in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and using the ferry as our highway to Vancouver which moves so much traffic, reservations needed, busy and cancelled sailings along with poor customer service. I was very surprised to take this smaller route ferry with friendly staff awesome...More

The Port McNeill facility is only 3 years old so it is very clean and modern with an enclosed waiting area for walk-on passengers. On the Ferry there's a comfortable lounge with lots of seating and vending machines for drinks and snacks. The ride to...More

We took the ferry from Port McNeill to Alter Bay. the ferry was perfect: modern, comfortable and the scenery was fab. I saw some orca's in the distance and there was a pod of harbor porpoises following the ferry for a while. An enjoyable tip....More

Cars awaiting the ferry queued in a very orderly fashion both in Port McNeill and Sointula. In Sointula we parked our car in the queue well ahead of the scheduled departure and had lunch at Coho Joe's overlooking the harbour.

great day trip but if you are going to stay over must be self contained very little on either island for grocery stores or hotels but that is part of the charm. Crew was very helpful and polite

this ferry is small and full of characters. everyone seems to know each other! the captain warned us of marine mammals up ahead then slowed the ferry and changed course for the humpback who gave us a great show.

Hello! I loved your review and am writing because I wish to take my Class B (small 20-foot) RV on this ferry. I have a few questions: were you able to park overnight on this island? And, were you able to see the orcas that rub their bellies on the rocks? We leave in 2 weeks! Thank you for any information you can provide.

If you are referring to the ferry to Cormorant Island/Alert Bay then yes, a 20' RV is still considered a "standard vehicle". There is a campground/RV Park close to Alert Bay but you may want to call ahead to check... More
