I popped in to find out what was there to see and learn. I was not expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised by all there was. The guide was well informed and interesting as well as garbed in the dress of the times. I found out surprising facts that should be in Canadian history books. There was also the family tree of the Steeves family - which is amazing. I thought that I would be through in half an hour but no - it took me over an hour and I would have liked to stay longer but I had to get back home. I want to go back this summer and take my time. If you like to learn something exciting about the past, then visit this lovely home of one of the founders of Canada and take your time.…

There are so many interesting items in the house, and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. It was an unexpected stop, but well worth it.

What an amazing museum we stumbled upon on our way to Hopewell Rocks, NB. The history of this family in NB dates back to the 1830's. They left Germany and went to Pennsylvania but moved to Moncton with 30 other families. They left Moncton and settled in Hillsboro. They had 7 sons and the daughter died! John William Steeves was a father of Confederation! The museum has a lot of historical documents and pictures and paintings! Also a lot of clothing, dolls, toys, dishes, kitchen utensils, musical instruments, etc! It was amazing! Very knowledgeable volunteers and for the $3.00 entry fee it was a great bargain! Oh I forgot all the beautiful quilts! A must see for history buffs!…
