A visit to the Basilica is worth taking as it over looks the Mirimachi River. A very imposing structure with arches and stained glass offers a great photo opportunity.

The basilica sits on a hill overlooking the town with views of the river. The church was built in the early 20th century as the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Chatham, but when the diocese was combined with Saint John, NB in 1938, it became the parish church for Chatham. It has amazing architecture and style. It is a place of quiet reflection and peace. (for more details, see Wikipedia) I grew up in this church, and it retains many great memories

This is one of the largest cathedrals in NB. It's absolutely beautiful, and I love how you can see it miles before you get to it.

I remember as a child going here for mass. Seemed so large and impressive with large open area and beautiful stained glass. It is good to bring a camera and good shoes as it does sit on a side hill. it is great location as we attended a friends wedding last year.

Beautiful architecture and a wonderful historic graveyard to explore. Comparable to many of the great cathedrals and churches in Europe.

Stopped into the Basilica July 3016, on a road trip throughout northeast Canada. Beautiful old church with old world charm. Statues were amazing, very quite nice place for prayer and meditation. They have "Blessed Doors" when walking through them you are in a state of grace for the year of Mercy ending in November 2016

We live in Miramichi & often bring our visitors to this lovely historic Basilica.
Once we were lucky enough to be given a tour from one of the custodians..
He made it very person & our friends very much enjoyed it..as we did as well..
It is an impressive building on the skyline of Miramichi..can almost be seen for anywhere on either side of the Miramichi River..

We recommend going to the little chapel on the side of the basilica. The stain glass and the wooden ceilings are a must see
