What makes Fundy Trail exceptional is the combination of Place and People. The pictures say it all about Place. Breathtaking. One of the earliest pullouts is for the flowerpot scenic footpath. The kind ranger at entry gate recommended stops at P 4, 7a (interpretive center), 8 (suspension bridge), 12 (Long Beach) and 15 (gorge). These are only highlights. We were glad we stopped for flowerpot as the brief hike down and up was the only glimpse of the rock formation so similar to those at Hopewell. Ask at entry for specifics as not marked at entry that i saw. You will find your own highlights as well as those recommended!!
A Friday mid June was ideal. We were almost alone. Bring a picnic. Recommend overlooks near P14 for picnics as they are high but most are lovely and ones lower may be best when windy. At P15, the short walk to beautiful gorge overlook platform was enough for our last hike of a full day. Longer hikes are all black diamond. The interpretive center there is under construction and park staff are hidden in what looks like a construction trailer.
Every interaction with staff was friendly and helpful. Domenic at the Salmon River Interpretive Center expanded our experience there so much in sharing his knowledge of the early logging communities and the perils of logging. Thank you, Domenic!! Beverly Franklin at the Long Beach interpretive center is a gem and a delight. i have never been to a beach that offers absolutely anything you can think of to borrow. it must be a wonderful boon to all and especially those on through hikes. a beach towel, really???
Place and People. The Fundy Trail has it all.

I explored this stunning work of Nature by bicycle on a perfect late Summer day. I started in St Martins and rode into the Park that way. The road is smooth and wide, easy to navigate with any road bike, and the cars I met were very respectful. The views are spectacular and the hills are, too! You will love the downhill runs, and the climbs will awaken your inner Tour de France rider. The many overlooks and halts offer matchless vistas and a spectacular spot for a cooling drink. Make sure you take enough water, because you will need it! I stopped at the Salmon River Interpretive Centre and got some extra. I rode to the East Gate and beyond, which showed about 42.5 km on my odometer. I recommend this ride to anyone in decent condition with a suitable bike. Go there and enjoy! PK

Words aren’t enough to describe this coastal drive. When we went it was very foggy on the way out and clear and sunny on the way back. Both ways were absolutely stunning. You are given a map when you start and every stop is clearly signed so it is easy to see where you are and plan stops. There are some stops that are just lookout points, and others that have trails to particular sights (signed P1-P15). The short hike to the breathtaking gorge at P15 was my favorite. The trails are a range of difficulties and many of them have strategically placed wooden benches. There are picnic tables at each stop and toilets at several of them. It will take around 40 minutes to drive straight through but I would allow longer as you will want to stop at least for photos.

Fabulous drive on good roads with many scenic stops along the way & of course longer trails if you wish. The staff are helpful at suggesting the best view points.
We started from Alma at about 9.40am drove as far as the Flowerpot view point with many stops & lunch along the way & were comfortably back in Alma by 3.30pm.

we got to see just the beginning of the parkway going through the covered bridge at St martins sea caves and then turned around and went to lighthouse road where the light house is that overlooks the ocean not the one at the caves and enjoyed the panoramic views from there. WE actually started at the other end of the parkway but GPS took us on the north route cause we missed the sign so if you are starting just past ALMA make sure you take the left turn where it says scenic drive its not a clear sign and you pass it quickly and GPS does not even acknowledge that is the correct turn. I know we missed out on some spectacular views cause i spent hours on youtube watching other peoples videos of the full drive so will have to catch it next time and do the whole thing

This is well worth spending a day exploring. It is adjacent to Funday National Park, connected by some back roads. Lots of viewpoints and places of interest along the parkway. The caves are worth a look at when you exit the parkway and enter St. Martin.

Absolutely fantastic in the Park. Great roads, thoughtful viewing points BUT when going from east to west to Alma the signage immediately outside the Park is atrocious, or to be more exact non existent. We seemed to drive for miles not knowing if we were on the right road, as as our sat nav had broken down, we became quite worried. Apparently the link road was only completed a couple of years ago, but as the Park appeals to tourist this isn't an acceptable excuse.

We were heading to Alma and the parkway wasnt planned. It was a bit surprising to owe $28 to drive through here, but it turned out to be very pretty. The gate employee suggested some highlights since it was late in the day. Everything is well maintained. We hit a suspension bridge and Fuller Falls. Wish we had had more time to plan this.

If you're not in a hurry, pay the ~$15CA and drive this route. Pull off at scenic views and do some hiking. The road is smooth (seemed newly resurfaced), hilly, and curvy! We stopped at the gift shop for souvenirs.

Before I even get to the sights, I have to share that my vacation had a near-disaster while I was there as my car broke down in the middle of the park. I share this as it gives me the opportunity to praise Josh, Nancy, and Murray (all employees) who went way out of their way to be helpful and caring to me and my dog while we were “stuck.” The tow truck couldn’t get to us until the following morning, and these 3 folks made sure we were safe for the night, brought coffee, and even checked that there was water for my dog. I cannot thank them enough. I am grateful beyond measure.
And on to the beauty of this place!
The views you will have of the Bay of Fundy are nothing short of spectacular. Parking at the various vistas and trailheads is ample, and it was quite uncrowned. What you see around every turn and corner is a feast for the eyes. This was my first time sightseeing along the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, and I would heartily recommend taking your time to explore here. You will be well rewarded.

can one travel by car from St Martin along the Fundy Trail Parkway to Fundy Park and Alma?
Written July 5, 2020
Hey Linda!
You can currently drive from St. Martins to Sussex Corner. The Alma connector road is set to open next year! You could also pop back on to Route 1 from Sussex and continue on to Alma though.

What is the best thing(s) to do between 6 hour tide changes? We will be there on August 17th, 2020 when high tide is around 12:30 PM and low tide around 6:30 PM. Also what are best restaurants in the area for lunch and dinner? Thanks!

If you are at the park....drive the length of the park, spend time at the overlooks, do a little hiking and spend time at the visitor center. We packed a lunch and had a picnic. The park closes at dark so you might not be there at the lowest tide.
If you are in St. Martins at the caves I would suggest going at mid tide and spend a little time around the harbor and then going out to the caves. Six hours could be a long time to hang out waiting for the tide change. I would do the Funny Trail and then come back to the caves when the tide has gone out some. If you eat close to the caves...go to Caves. But in town I recommend Fiori's. I would also suggest going out to the Quaco Head. It's a beautiful spot.

Just checking to see if there are public transport options from the cruise ship terminal to the interpretive center or to the multi-use trail?
Written February 12, 2020
We hired a car and did it on our own. Avis was the only company which had a branch near the dock, all the rest are at the airport and you need a taxi to get there. Definitely met private coaches and minivans at various viewpoints with fellow cruise passengers along the way, within the Fundy Trail. Not sure about public transport options, maybe try to contact their website or the tourist information centre?

This summer our destination is PEI and Nova Scotia, but we will fly into Bangor, Maine. So we have a little time on our drive to NS to stop along the coast of New Brunswick at the Bay of Fundy. Are there any high coastline cliffs along there. We would probably have time to stop either at St. Martins & Fundy Trail Parkway OR Fundy National Park. I have heard that the latter one is more about hiking than viewpoints along the coast...is that true? We do plan to spend time at Hopewell Rocks on a different day. Just looking for a 2 or 3 hour detour off Interstate 1 to see the coast of Bay of Fundy.
Thank you!

Agree with most of my fellow travelers; Fundy Trail is fantastic! Very few people, amazing views and some good short hikes. You need at least 3 or 4 hours to really soak in the views, the quiet, and you will experience seeing very few people (we were there in early October). Bring snacks or a picnic. We stayed in St. Martin's the night before. After we left the Fundy Trail we drove through Fundy Park to Alma. From there we did Cape Enrage and Hopewell Rocks the next day and then on to Moncton for the night. I recommend everyone experience this side of the Bay of Fundy!

How did you get to the Fundy Trail from the cruise port?
Written September 9, 2018
I would consult resources at the cruise ship terminal in Saint John in regards to transportation to this site. They do offer bus transportation at some times to the caves area in St Martins. I am not sure if they go as far as the Fundy Trail which is just beyond the caves area.

Is fundy trail parkway connected with McCumber Brook Road yet? From google map, it shows that they are connected. And you can exit the fundy trail parkway to McCumber Brook Road and then to route 114 and don't have to turn back to the entrance. THe google map is correct?
Written August 19, 2018
The Fundy Trail parkway reaches up to Walton Glen (30km). The province is beginning the process of paving the connector roads towards Sussex (end of 2020 completion date) and then Alma (end of 2021 completion date) so it is not accessible from that side. We hope to see you soon!

Is there stops along the way (walking the trail) to replenish water and supplies?
Written July 16, 2018
Hi! There is a visitors center with snacks and cold drinks, and souvenirs maybe check their hours of operations when you come in they will give you a map when you pay your entry fee. It is about halfway in so if you are hiking the trail from beginning to end, bring your own supplies.
