If you are going to do one thing in Newfoundland make it the Beach Boil up! IT was an authentic Newfoundlander experience, and a great way to meet and talk with other travelers. Jordan and Bonnie are a wonderfully warm and welcoming tour leaders, and they cooked an amazing meal. We had lobster on the beach, watching the sunset- it was perfect. This was a trip highlight, and something I wish to do again one day when I return to Bonavista.

We had a very enjoyable afternoon with Jordan and Bonnie. The walk along the Bonavista coast was very beautiful. The steep cliffs looking down to swirling aquamarine water was stunning. We got to experience the sudden Newfoundland weather change where the temperature can change 10 degrees C in a moment. The puffins were not at the island in great numbers, but that did not diminish the trip in any way. Jordan and Bonnie also insisted on taking care of our dogs on leash so I could concentrate on taking pictures. We learned much about what it is like to live in Newfoundland. Finally, stop and eat at Quintal, their delicious restaurant and coffee shop in Bonavista.

We had such a great time! The pace was relaxing, the view was spectacular, the food was both interesting and delicious (5/5 for the cod, especially), and Jordan was a great chef and excellent company. Highly recommended!

This was such a great experience to have in Newfoundland. Jordan was at ease while he cooked an amazing multi-course meal by fire, chatting away to us all the while. As first time visitors we were curious to learn about BonaVista and Newfoundland. Jordan was happy to answer our questions and share stories. The food was really good with lots of variety to sample. We were stuffed by the end. I'm so glad we booked this experience and highly recommend it.

I would love to say this was a highlight of our trip but sadly there were a few things that need tweaking.
Bonnie and Jordan are sensational people who are gracious and informative about the local area.
The boil up is a great idea. Local food prepared and cooked outside at dusk / late afternoon. I believe that there is also a lunchtime option as well.
The local food on offer was limited. Capelins and cod fish and mussels. We also got to tast partridge berry jam. Everything else could have come straight from your own pantry. The tea, the cake, the salad. There were 12 in the group and the portion sizes were tiny. The young men in the group were starving. No one took big portions and this was a good thing as there was no way the amount was going to be adequate.
There was t an opportunity for the group to sit together comfortably, and it would have been great if we had been given discussion on the history, or even what it was like growing up in Bona Vista as Bonnie andJirdan are local.
We enjoyed it but it wasn’t what we thought it was from the brochure / advertisement. As far as value for money, it wasn’t. This is disappointing as it could be great.

We booked the walking tour of Bonavista for a Saturday morning at 9, and couldn’t have had a better start to the day! Jordan was so informative and it was a great way to explore the town. Bonavista is an absolutely beautiful place with a lot of history, and it seems like many exciting developments are going on as well with restorations and tourism. The pace was easy and we saw a lot of the town - it was very interactive and we could ask questions along the way. We all were so glad we did the tour and would highly recommend it to start the day or at the beginning of your trip, so you get a better idea of what’s in the town to explore further later. Thanks Jordan!

Our multi-genrational family of 11 had a boil up on the beach with Bonnie and Jordan and it was a wonderful time. The kids ran around the beach and played in the grass area behind the site. And the food was so delicious and plentiful. The carrot cake was so delicious. We highly recommend booking with Bonnie and Jordan!

Bonnie was very knowledgeable and personable. We really enjoyed learning the history of Bonavista and all of the historical buildings. Bonnies' parents were out fishing with her daughters and she took us over to see the cod and meet the family. Enjoyed spending a few minutes learning about the cod. The walking tour was well worth it and would strongly recommend booking with Bonavista.

My partner and I had a great time at the boil-up. The food was fantastic and the guide, Jordan, was funny and informative. We had a chance to try fresh lobster, crab, capelin that Jordan had collected from the beach just a few minutes before, as well as salad, homemade bread, and partridgeberry tart. After travelling for two weeks and eating in restaurants it was a treat to sit out on the beach and have fresh food cooked over an open fire. We would definitely recommend this to anyone coming to Newfoundland!
